Helen’s Den is now closed.

This week in the investigation area we’ve been exploring big feelings and how we deal with them. We had fun pulling faces in the mirror! The peg doll family and dinosaur puppets were especially popular, lots of great communication being developed 😄👍

Lets get creative! I’m a big believer that children should have lots of opportunities to explore arts and crafts, as well as the right to choose what they want to do. So here is my brand new creative area with lots of different things to try and a special line to display those masterpieces! Little Arthur was the first to try it out today and there were some fantastic combinations - sticking beads and foam shapes in playdough and cutting up lots of leaves with funky scissors! Loads of fun, creativity and development of fine motor skills going on! Blimey its been very hot this week! Here at the den we’ve had fun finding ways to keep cool - shady walks in the woods and lots of splashing in the water play area have featured heavily! Sometimes though you can’t beat chilling out inside with playdough - always a firm favourite! Arthur has been having fun making a whole playdough family today 😄

We’ve been checking out Camelot Play Castle this week! Fabulous place, little Ava really enjoyed it 😄

It’s a beautiful day for building sand castles in beach corner! Or rather, for me to build castles and the children to squash them flat...

I’m not the only one working hard with the kids around here - Helen’s Den is currently hosting a family of wren chicks! Mummy wren has made a nest just above our back door and is very busy bringing yummy grubs and dead spiders! We can just see three little beaks poking out, demanding food! Very cute! Unfortunately too dark in their corner to get a decent picture...

Having a fabulous day with my very first member of the Den - 2 year old Arthur! We’ve had a whale of a time this morning hunting ladybirds, playing in Bradgate park and exploring all the toys in the garden! We’ve had such a busy time that Arthur couldn’t wait for his afternoon nap - he’s spark out bless him!
