Yesterday Mr Mack took a group of our Year 3s, 4s & 5s to Longhill School for a tag rugby festival organised by our ACE coaches, Mr Hoad & Mr Wescott and the PE team at Longhill.

It was a fantastic event, with almost 100 children from the ACE schools taking part in a range of rugby games and drills before tag rugby 'mini-matches' took over.

A huge thank you to Longhill for hosting, and their young Sports Leaders in particular. It was wonderful to see lots of former RKPS pupils running activities, demonstrating the lifelong love of sport we aim to give our children!

On Tuesday evening, a group of RKPS children performed in the annual Let's Dance show at the Brighton Dome. They had a fantastic time and represented the school magnificently in front of a sell-out crowd with their dance to 'Walking on Sunshine'!

We just LOVE sport at RKPS!
On Thursday we welcomed Matt Whippey from Sussex Cricket for a Cricket Experience Day. All the children from Years 1-6 had a go at batting, bowling and fielding and learn some fantastic new skills. Thanks to Matt for all his hard work!

Finally, in Years 5 & 6, the children travelled back in time, finding out about how technology has changed and how we have become so reliant on 'new tech'. The children were fascinated to hear of a time before Interactive Whiteboards when blackboards were used in every classroom; they discussed how smartphones and smartwatches have changed the way we live, and made predictions about where technology will take us next.

In Years 3 & 4, the children learnt about online influencers and how what they say and post on social media can affect our decisions, including what games we play and what products we buy. They looked at lots of different scenarios and decided whether they were positive or negative influences.

It was wonderful to see so many children thinking deeply about the issues raised, and being open and honest about their own online experiences.

In KS1, the children read 'Mo and Jaz's Story' about two characters watching a funny video online and feeling worried when the video finishes and another, different video starts.

The children had lots of great ideas and answered questions about the story, including who they should talk to if the same thing happened to them.

Congratulations to our Year 3 & 4 cricketers for completing the RKPS clean sweep of trophies at the ACE indoor cricket tournament yesterday! We won every trophy available across the three KS2 events, with Years 5 & 6 triumphing earlier this term.

The teamwork and determination displayed by all three squads was a joy to see. We look forward to seeing even more of it at the ACE events in the new year!

Today is our Times Tables Rockstars/Numbots relaunch!
All pupils will be coming home with a letter containing their username/password and details on how to login via smartphone, tablet or computer.

TTRS (KS2) and Numbots (KS1) are fantastic learning tools that support children in learning their number facts and times tables.

Why not give it a try over the weekend? We suggest children play little and often to really get the most out of it!

Yesterday, two of our Sports Captains, Malaika and William, joined Mr Mack at Sussex Cricket Ground for a School Games Award celebration event. They proudly received RKPS's Gold Award from the Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Jackie O'Quinn.
