Miss Daisy’s Tearooms , Sutton on the Forest, was the destination for our foodie group this month. Nine members enjoyed a convivial lunch. We will return!

Our September meeting on Thursday was well attended by 22 members plus 4 new members and 1 visitor.
The speaker this month was Faye Williams from Cheeky Budgie Design who introduced us to a world of polymer clay jewellery & pieces of art. Ladies also had the opportunity to purchase completed items or kits to try their hand at making their own! A brilliant evening with lots of interest in a future hands on workshop!!

A sneaky peek at some of the wonderful craft items made by our members to sell on our annual market stall.
As well as everyday items such as woolly headbands, bags and aprons, we have some Halloween themed bits, Christmas decorations and jars of seasonal mincemeat and preserves.
Come along to Helmsley market on Friday 18th September and say hi.

Our Foodie group ventured further afield to Il Paradiso on the Forest , a popular Italian restaurant in Sutton-on-the-Forest. The food was delicious and, being run by an Italian family, the atmosphere felt very authentic.

Yesterday's meeting took the form of a themed garden party. (Can you guess what it was?). Members were encouraged to dress up or wear something bright!
We had a fun quiz, an alternative pass the parcel and a raffle, ladies also enjoyed a buffet of home made goodies!

10 or our members enjoyed a backstage tour of York Theatre Royal at the weekend. It was fascinating to see everything from a different perspective & learn about the history of the building. The tour was followed by tea and cake... of course!

WI is all about fun, friendship and wellness so our meeting in June, when we sang our hearts out, combined all of these. This was all wonderfully arranged and encouraged by Keith Johnson our pianist whose enthusiasm spurred us on to get outside our comfort zones.

North Yorkshire East Federation of WIs arrange a variety of events and workshops throughout the year. Three of our members joined the walk from WI House in Norby, Thirsk last week. First stop was St Mary’s where we admired the architecture, font and the wall hanging plus we couldn’t resist a photo of the knitted donkey. Someone is very talented!

Then back out into the rain, we walked through arable fields between Thirsk and South Kilvington ending up at the old water mill. It was a treat to see inside. Many thanks to Trustee Margaret Ellison for leading the walk and arranging access to the mill .

Our walk ended back at WI House, where we were treated to a delicious homemade quiche lunch with eton mess to follow. Thanks to Trustee Sarah McFarlane and Jane Burns for such an excellent lunch.
