There has been SO MUCH going on over the last couple of weeks, so it's time to catch up and share some highlights!

Last Thursday hosted our Alternative Darning workshop. It was such a lovely evening with lots of chat and some beautiful stitching, plus a special unannounced guest (see last slide 😜). Thanks so much to everyone for coming along!

This 2 week course will give you the opportunity to master working with finer stretch fabrics whilst making 'Nikko', a long sleeve, mock turtleneck top. This is a brilliant pattern that will form part of the basics of your wardrobe. The pattern (which is yours to keep), also give options for a sleeveless top and a long sleeve and sleeveless dress, which you can make at home. Size 0-18

You will learn:

All about stretch fabrics
Tips and tricks to work with fine or ribbed jersey
You can use the skills you have learned in class to make one of the other variations in the pattern

What's included?

A commercial printed pattern which you can take home and re-use

What you need to bring:

Up to 2.3m of medium weight knit fabric with approx 75% stretch e.g. rib knit or bamboo knit. I will be in touch a few weeks before class with more details
Ball point or stretch needle
Matching thread. We recommend using a good quality brand such as Gütermann or Coats
A sewing machine (if you don't have one you can choose to hire one from us for £10)
A sewing kit including fabric and paper scissors or rotary cutter, a quick unpick, pins, tailors chalk or fabric pen, tape measure or ruler, spare needles for your sewing machine. Kit is available to borrow if you don't have your own.

£80. This course is aimed at confident beginners who have sewn clothing before and would like to try working with stitch fabric.

Class runs on Tues 13th and 20th October, from 6.30- 9pm at Saint Wilfrids Community Centre, Coltsgate Hill, Ripon HG4 2AB.

Learn how to repair your worn out clothing with visible mending techniques including honeycomb, chain and tambourine darning.

We'll be on Thursday evening (Oct 1st), from 7-9pm with hot drinks and lots of threads and tools to help you to mend your garments.

All you need to do is bring along some worn out (not holey), socks and/or garments with tiny moth holes and we'll get to work bringing them back to life!

All tools and threads are included (but bring your kit if you have some), and don't worry if you don't have anything to repair, we'll have some scraps that you can use.
