Congratulations to Lauren & Jay, who tied the knot yesterday at the beautiful Burlton Manor

I had the absolute privilege of caring for their little boy, Noah, from 11am through to 11pm on their special day ✨

We started gently — a little car nap after he’d fallen asleep on the way to the venue, followed by some quiet play, lunch, and getting “wedding ready” 💍

Noah was an absolute superstar, walking down the aisle with his big sister… but as the ceremony began, I could see he was becoming tired and unsettled.

So I made the call to step out and prioritise what he needed most 🤍

Within five minutes of lying beside him, he was fast asleep 💤

That reset made all the difference — he woke up happy, refreshed, and ready to enjoy the celebrations with his cousins 🫶🏼

A truly gorgeous day for a gorgeous family ✨

Thank you so much for trusting me to be part of it 🤍

👰🏼‍♀️

Huge thank you to the staff team at Burlton Manor for being so lovely and helpful as always 🤍 such a pleasure ✨

What really happens during the wedding breakfast… (kid edition) 🤍

The wedding breakfast is often one of the longest parts of the day — and while adults are enjoying the meal, speeches and atmosphere, it can feel very different from a child’s perspective.

Long waiting times, sitting still between courses, lots of noise, people moving around, and a busy environment can quickly become overwhelming for little ones. This is usually when parents or family members end up leaving the table, food goes cold, or special moments get missed while comforting a tired or restless child.

And here’s something many couples don’t realise — children don’t have to be part of the seating plan. You can absolutely choose a child-free wedding breakfast, and honestly, if there are only a small number of children attending, this can work really well.

Every wedding is different, and there’s no right or wrong — it’s purely parent preference.

My role is simply to help families find the option that allows everyone to enjoy the day in a way that feels calm, relaxed and enjoyable for both adults and children.

Because happy children = relaxed parents ✨

✨ I left my job during COVID with no real plan… just a feeling that there had to be something more than this ✨

I haven’t shared this story before, but The Shropshire Wedding Nanny actually started as an idea on my sofa back in 2019.

I remember thinking… could I be a wedding nanny?
Would anyone even want this?

When we got married in 2017, our own children were 6 years, 21 months and 7 months old. I knew we would need help with the children and I didn’t want my mum spending the whole day looking after them — it was her day too. Family and friends always offer to help with the best intentions, but once the drinks start flowing and old friends appear… childcare naturally slips away.

At the time, my goal was simple — provide a little more for my family and maybe enjoy a holiday without worrying about the cost. I never expected this business to give me so much more: confidence, purpose, pride… and a career I genuinely love.

Fast forward five years, and that little idea has grown into a small team of incredible, experienced wedding nannies supporting couples and their children on one of the biggest days of their lives. We now travel across the UK and Europe — not just Shropshire 🌍

To every couple who has trusted us — thank you. You’ve helped change my life 🤍

Just a girl, doing what she loves ✨

What your wedding breakfast looks like when you hire The Shropshire Wedding Nanny ✨

Your wedding breakfast is one of the most special parts of the day — a chance for your closest family and friends to sit together, relax, and soak it all in.

But as any parent knows… little ones usually eat in about 15 minutes 😅

That’s where we come in.

We keep children happy, entertained, and cared for so parents can truly enjoy the moment — whether that’s staying in the room or, sometimes, choosing for the children and their nanny to eat elsewhere at the venue.

And honestly? It often works really well. Wedding breakfast rooms can be loud, busy, and overwhelming for little ones — not always the calmest environment for them to eat and settle.

By creating a more relaxed space, children stay content, parents feel reassured, and everyone gets to enjoy the celebration exactly as it should be 💛

✨ Calm for children
✨ Peace of mind for parents
✨ A wedding breakfast everyone can enjoy

C E R E M O N Y

Will we need the wedding nanny during the ceremony?

I have been asked this question alot, so I figured I would do a little post about it.

My professional advice is YES, now ofcourse this does depend on the age of the child/children but usually it is recommended that your wedding nanny starts atleast 1-2 hours prior to the ceremony.

Why you ask?

Well for a few different reasons really:

1. Having a wedding nanny arrive during the buzz of the bridal preparations really helps to take the pressure off you fellow mums/friends. Let's be honest, it's not a child focussed environment when you are getting glammed up, and more often than not, the little ones get bored. It's also a perfect bonding time for your child and Nanny.

I usually hear on my arrival "thank goodness the nanny has arrived".

2. Your baby/child may well need a bottle, lunch, or and a nap, your wedding nanny can take care of all aspects of your child's care routine, again relieving that worry of who's going to take care of your little one.

3. Your wedding nanny can dress your baby/child into their ceremony outfit right at the last minute to ensure they stay as clean and pristine as possible right up until the big moment.

4. If your baby or child feels overwhelmed or their care routine doesn't suit the ceremony time, your wedding nanny is there to take the little one out of the ceremony if needed or settle them for a nap if it so happens to be naptime etc. Eliminating a beloved family member having do this which would result in them missing your ceremony.

So as you can see, there's lots to think about when getting married with little ones already part of your family and it shouldn't be stressful or a worry, that's what The Shropshire Wedding Nanny is here for 👋🏻😍

I always appreciate feedback after an event, it means so much to me knowing how much of an impact I/we as wedding nannies have on your special day, not to mention how it helps future parents/couples to make the right decision for them.

Thank you 💕

It's true what they say, they really do, save the best til last ✨

A quote to remember this Christmas, from the classic Charles Dickens - A Christmas carol - 1843

"to give up one's very self – to think only of others – how to bring the greatest happiness to others – that is the true meaning of Christmas."

From our family to yours, we wish you health and happiness during the festive period and beyond 🎅🏻🕯️✨🎄❄️
