Team work makes the dream work 🙌

How cool is it that the children are so keen to help keep their space clean and tidy - they play a lot but they also help with 'adult' jobs.

Some of the jobs they help with....
- recycling
- filling/emptying the dishwasher
- washing up
- cleaning up
- folding clothes and matching socks
- hanging clothes on the airer
- vacuuming (especially after indoor messy play)!

🏀Children are free to choose what they would like to play with, and how they would like to play with said resources whilst they are here. My role is to stretch their learning, help them stay focused and help them develop curiosity and concentration skills🏀

This is what happens when one of the children choose to play with a single bouncy ball...

I set up extra little invitations to play around them...

By the end of the morning we had all enjoyed making our own score sheets, practising our aim, stretching our bodies, sweeping into target areas, playing with our friends and we developed our maths skills further 😀

The children are free to explore the art area however they wish.. but sometimes I add a little invitation to play.

We have all been excited to see the dandelions recently so this seemed fitting.

One of the children drew lines on their picture... for the first time they drew lines instead of circles! They learnt something new, just from this simple set up :)

It might look like 'just a day out' but every trip out has intention..

🌸 Observing how the environment changes with the seasons (returning to places we have been before to see how change happens)
🌸 Taking activities along so we can get imaginative and creative - on this trip we made our own blossom trees, which challenged the childrens fine motor skills
🌸 Developing gross motor skills as we run, walk, roll, skip, hop, climb
🌸 Talking about what we can see, hear and smell and learning new words along the way
🌸 Being at one with nature and exploring different textures (soft blossom, rough bark, tickly grass, sticky glue, hard sticks, heavy stones

To the children, this was just fun, but I know, it was in fact a real learning experience full of opportunities!

Making numbers fun!

We had a lovely time together using the paint dabbers to add petals to our flowers. We worked out how many petals to give each one by counting the leaves on the stem (some of the children were able to recognise the written numeral). We also covered the letter b's with butterfly sequins 🦋

- mark making and using a variety of art materials (cellotape, paint dabbers, pens, sequins, glue)
- colour, number, shape and letter recognition
- taking turns
- fine motor skills
- talking about the world around us (bugs, insects and flowers)

One of the children had a brilliant idea of using stones as paper weights when his paper starting blowing away - what a great example of why we should leave some room for them to think for themselves 👏
