Well, what a lovely few days we’ve had celebrating with our children. We are full of mixed emotions but thankful for the shared memories we have made.

I would like to wish all our families, children and staff at Ripley Nursery School a joyful and relaxing summer break, and give enormous thanks to the Ripley Nursery School Childcare team who work throughout the year to ensure continuity for our working families. 🙏

I know the holidays can be hard, and often expensive, but please remember the most memorable moments for your children are spent talking, playing and laughing with you. ❤️

We will miss those families and children who are moving on to the next chapter, and would like to thank you all for your kind words and generous gifts, we feel so blessed to have such a supportive community. 🙏

I would also like to thank all the amazing staff at Ripley Nursery School and Childcare, for the dedication and love they give to our children every day. Each and every one of them goes above and beyond to make sure every child gets the best start possible. Ripley Nursery really is a special place and I am proud of you all.

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart ❤️

🍦 We’re having lots of fun at our Ice Cream Party today!

Our very own ice cream shop has been set up in the garden, and the children are loving choosing their favourite toppings and paying for their ice creams.

Lots of smiles, excitement, and tasty treats all around! 🍨✨

Children don't learn to assess risk by avoiding it.

They learn by climbing a little higher, balancing a little longer, jumping a little farther, and discovering what their bodies and minds are capable of.

Risky play isn't about encouraging danger. It's about giving children opportunities to experience manageable challenge, make decisions, solve problems, recover from mistakes, and build confidence through real competence.

When we remove every opportunity for uncertainty, we don't make children safer. We reduce the very experiences that help develop sound judgment, executive functioning, emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence.

We cannot protect children into becoming capable adults. They need opportunities to accurately assess risk, trust themselves, and respond to challenges with competence rather than avoidance. These experiences are foundational for both immediate and lifelong mental, emotional, and physical health.

If you've ever wondered where the line is between safe and overprotective, join us for Part 3 of our SEL Series: Risk & Responsibility on Wednesday, July 29 (12:00PM EST).

We'll explore the science behind risky play, healthy boundaries, responsibility, independence, and why these experiences are essential for lifelong development.

Does your child love these squishy dumplings? They’re the latest craze – with unboxing videos gaining millions of views.

But their popularity and high demand mean lots of fakes are now available to buy. And the counterfeit versions may contain harmful levels of dangerous chemicals.

✓ Buy from trusted retailers if you can – fakes may not meet our safety standards
✓ Check for proper labelling – missing safety information is a sign it’s fake
✓ If the toy is damaged, leaking or smells unusual, stop using it
✓ Avoid buying for under 3s - they’re most at risk from dangerous toys.
