🎓 Our Class of 2026 🎓

Today we celebrate our amazing Class of 2026! 💙

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our wonderful children. They have embraced every opportunity, given their all to school life, and filled our days with laughter, kindness, curiosity, and joy.

As they take their next exciting step to junior school, we know they will continue to grow, achieve, and shine. Although we will miss their smiling faces, we are excited to see all that the future holds for them.

Thank you for being such a special part of our school family. We wish you every happiness and success on your new adventure.

⚽🌍 Last week, we had a fantastic World Cup Day at Lons Infant School!

The children came to school proudly wearing their favourite football kits and enjoyed taking part in a range of fun football skills activities throughout the day. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork and sporting spirit on display!

A big thank you to Mr P from Amber Valley School Sport Partnership who shared his football skills with us.

Now it's time to get behind the Three Lions... Come on England! 🏴⚽🙌

The summer holidays are going to be here before we know it!

Our exciting theme for this year is ‘Around The World’ 🌍 lots of fab activities and experiences are being planned.

🦕🌿 What an unforgettable day! 🌿🦖

Today, Lons Infant School visited Manor Farm Park and Woodlands in search of dinosaurs as part of our Dinosaurs Rock topic! 🦖🦕

We started the day by meeting some fascinating reptiles 🐍🦎 and even had the chance to stroke them! The children were incredibly brave and loved the experience. We then had lots of fun in the soft play area 🤸‍♀️🎉... although we think the adults may have enjoyed it even more! 😂

After lunch, we set off on a dinosaur hunt through the woodlands 🌳🔍, discovering dinosaurs hidden amongst the trees before exploring another fantastic play park 🛝. We finished our adventure by watching an amazing bird show 🦅✨.

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful children for being so well behaved, enthusiastic and a credit to our school throughout the day. 💙👏 We would also like to thank our incredible staff for giving our children these fantastic opportunities and creating memories that will last a lifetime. 🌟😊

☀️ Keeping Cool in the Heat! ☀️

We are so proud of our children for how well they are managing during this hot weather.
A huge thank you to our FOLIS team, who recently purchased new blinds for our classrooms. They have helped keep the rooms shaded from the sun and created a much cooler, more comfortable environment for our children to learn in.

We are also incredibly grateful to our wonderful group of volunteer parents and grandparents who gave up their weekend to fit the blinds for us. Your support is greatly appreciated!

To help everyone stay cool, we have been making good use of our school hall at lunchtimes and enjoying ice pops as a refreshing treat. We have also adapted some of our lessons to include cool-down stations, with activities such as cooling our feet while taking part in guided reading.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us keep our children safe, comfortable, and happy during the heatwave. 💙🌞

🌟 Reception Starters 2026 🌟

We are excited to kick-start our new starter transition programme this week with our first Stay and Play session on Thursday 25th June, 3:30pm–4:30pm.

Further transition dates are:
📅 Tuesday 30th June – 9:00am–11:30am
📅 Monday 6th July – 1:00pm–3:00pm
📅 Tuesday 7th July – 9:00am–11:30am

We are looking forward to getting to know all of our new Reception children and helping them settle into our amazing school. We can't wait to welcome you and your families as you begin this exciting journey with us! 😊

Amber Valley School Sport Partnership holiday camp now available to book 🌟

We’re pleased to announce that a brand new holiday camp specifically for pupils with SEN/D is coming to our 2025 summer programme! Venue: Ripley Infant School | Dates: 29th-31st July and 19th-21st August | Ages: 5-11year olds

We are proud to have a new plaque displayed at our main entrance in honour of Frank Adams.

Frank was a very special person who gave so much to the Lons community. From helping to establish our forest and volunteering as a reader listener, to becoming our much-loved Santa at our Breakfast with Santa events, Frank always gave his time with kindness and generosity.

We are delighted to recognise his contribution in this way and ensure his legacy remains a visible part of our school community. He is greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. ❤️

Lons Sports Day 2026 ☀️ 🌟

We had a fun filled afternoon of obstacle courses, inflatable slides and traditional sports day races. 🏃‍♀️

Well done to all of our mini athletes, we are so proud of you! 🌟 (and the big athletes too!)
