Jennymathersworks Artist working at the interface between art and science. Exploring natural world and processes through the media of paint, photograph, yarn and print.

Jenny trained as a research scientist, gaining a BSc in Biological Chemistry and a PhD in Virology. She graduated from Newcastle University with a BA in Fine Art in 2005 and was selected as one of three graduating students to exhibit in that year’s Network Art Tour. Jenny has developed her career by making and exhibiting work in the media of painting, photography and cyanotypes. She has exhibited

in 2005, 2006 and 2008 in Network’s Art Tour and shown work in group exhibitions at the Globe Gallery, Newcastle, The Duchess Gallery, Kielder and the Queens Hall, Hexham. She had a solo exhibition, Genomic Layette, at the International Centre for Life,Newcastle upon Tyne, in 2011, as part of a scientific conference, Epigenetics and Developmental Programming. Jenny organises arts events for other artists and has curated, since 2006, exhibitions at Shepherds Dene, showing work by professional artists and photographers and community groups. She is a member of Network, Hexham Photography Group, a-n and the Overlap Group.
