Tonight was a great evening for 2 1 on 1 sessions with Hayden and Connie.

They developed their ability to dominate 1v1 by learning core moves that are effective in these situations.

I’ve enjoyed supporting the development of many players over the last 8 months in these 1 on 1 training sessions.

I had a great evening coaching Art, Hayden, Sam and Alfie in their 1 on 1 sessions this evening at the Richmondshire Pro Player training ground. We experimented with practice design tonight as I’m committed to basing my coaching on evidence based research. I’m really happy with how the players learned and they enjoyed the playful environment.

We focused on staying on the ball and playing forward in tonight’s training session with the U10s. We used a games based constraints-led approach to develop this. In the first 2 games we used a restrict constraint, 1 or 4 or more touches which challenged the players to play early and release the ball on 1 touch or stay on the ball to find a positive solution. In games 3 and 4 we used another restrict constraint, you can only pass backwards or sideways if it is a 1 touch pass. This challenged the players to find more forward passes and supporting players to find positions ahead of the ball. Decent session overall, I definitely have some rustiness coaching this way after going back to a traditional approach for a while.

Good sessions this evening with Richmondshire Pro Player U10s and Richmond Rockets U7s.

Both sessions were mostly skills based with a lot of ball mastery and some passing and receiving. I changed my routine and planned the sessions the old fashioned way with paper and pencil. Not sure if it took longer because I was more deliberate or I'm a slow writer.

It was my final session with Richmond Rockets U7s. Unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow me continue coaching them so my journey with them comes to an end. I started the team after Easter last year which was made up of players from the Mini Rockets programme. I've really enjoyed coaching them and wish them well in the future. I'll be keeping an eye on their progress.

I had a good morning coaching Richmond Rockets U7s at the Hambleton & Richmondshire JFL U7s end of season tournament.

A good learning experience for the boys today to learn that you can play well and not win, so it's important to focus on playing our style of football and improving, as well as being competitive.

Another quality morning down the Richmondshire Pro Player training ground watching the U12s and U13s with a 1 on 1 session with Hayden in-between. Great to see the Pro Player teams looking to keep possession and build up play with courage and skill. Excellent session with Hayden developing his Ball Mastery.

⚽️ Big thanks to Darlington United Youth for making the short trip over last night for a great game, both teams trying to play the right way and a lot of talent on show, really enjoyed it and all players with smiles on faces 👌

It was good to get another game in with next season's U11s. A positive performance and result. I learned a lot about the team and their areas of development. Looking forward to getting back on the training pitch with them.

This evening brings to an end 3 consecutive days of football in great weather at the Richmondshire Pro Player training ground. It was a brilliant evening seeing all of the teams at the training ground and coaching the U10s and U11s. The work the club has done to create a home of an excellent standard is nothing short of great and I love going there.

More great weather for another morning watching football down at the Richmondshire Pro Player training ground. This time it was the U9s in a friendly playing a Northallerton Town U10s team that are a year older. It was a performance that encapsulated the RPP philosophy, their coaches should be proud of the work they've done.

I had a fantastic morning watching the Hambleton & Richmondshire U7s Cup Final, contested by both Richmondshire Pro Player teams. It was an entertaining game to watch and one of the most competitive, intense and hard fought games I've seen at that age group. Well done to both teams for getting to the final and putting on a great show. Credit to the club for going above and beyond to make it a memorable experience for the children.

I had a good 1 on 1 Goalkeeper session with Sam this evening. This was Sam's 4th or 5th session with me, he has improved and increased his confidence. Always a pleasure to coach him.
