Dear JMO members,

As you may know, we are in the process of preparing to submit morris and related dance activities to the UK’s Living Heritage Inventory (sometimes called Intangible Cultural Heritage).

We’ve been working together to prepare our submissions, and we now need your input as part of the morris community, as community consent is a crucial part of the UNESCO submission process.

You can see our draft submission text HERE:https://open-morris.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Living-Heritage-JMO-Draft-202603.pdf

If you have any feedback, please email us at [email protected] by Tuesday 24th March.

If you wish to join us to discuss the draft submissions, we’re opening two zoom calls as opportunities for discussion on Friday 20th March at 11am and 6.30pm. If you’d like to join us, please email [email protected]

The JMO needs to enter the submissions by Friday 27th March. There will be another window of opportunity for submissions in mid 2027.

Thank you from your JMO Living Heritage team – Emma Melville (Morris Ring), Jen Cox (Open Morris) and Jenny Everett (Morris Federation).

A great resource from One Dance UK.

It's International Transgender Day of Visibility! To celebrate today, we are highlighting our updated Transgender Awareness in Dance resource 👇🔗
https://bit.ly/4hUejSD

This educational guide provides foundational knowledge to increase awareness of transgender identities and issues within the dance sector.

Transgender people are the experts of their own experiences, and as such One Dance UK encourages all within our sector to engage in dialogue with the trans community to better understand matters arising and how best to support them alongside doing the individual work.
