We Do It Our Way — Early Years Education and Care
We do not teach—we tend.
Not lessons, but legacies.
Not outcomes, but origins.
We cradle beginnings
with rhythm, ritual, and reverence.
We do not rush the morning.
We greet it—softly.
With warm eyes, gentle hands,
and the kind of hello
that remembers yesterday’s tears
and tomorrow’s triumphs.
We do not manage behavior.
We mirror emotion.
We name the storm,
offer shelter,
and teach children
that even thunder can be understood.
We do not decorate for display.
We curate for memory.
Sand pits, dance steps, allotments—
each one a story
of movement, growth, and belonging.
We do not lead with volume.
We lead with vision.
Our authority is gentle,
our boundaries are clear,
and our care is fierce
in its quiet consistency.
We do not burn out for passion.
We build rhythm for resilience.
We do not perform care.
We embody it—
in every nappy change,
every shared snack,
every whispered affirmation
that says: You matter. You are safe. You are seen.
We do not do it like others.
We do it like us—
with poetic clarity,
strategic grace,
and the kind of love
that turns a nursery into a sanctuary
and a routine into a ritual
of communal uplift.

Oh, you thought Cygnets just casually dropped a mushroom pic with zero children in sight? As if we’d post a lonely little fungus like it’s auditioning for a nature documentary called “Moss: The Silent Years.” 🍄
No no—this isn’t the average mushroom. This is a celebrity mushroom. It’s been poked, named, serenaded, and possibly invited to a tea party by three toddlers and a stick insect. The children were just off-camera, deep in negotiations about whether it’s a fairy throne or a secret snack.
🤔🫵😀
At Cygnets, the mushrooms aren’t just fungi—they’re full-blown brain circus. 🍄 The children treat them like VIP guests from a magical kingdom. One minute they’re poking them gently like, “Hello, Mr Mushroom, do you grant wishes?” and the next they’re planning a full-scale mushroom wedding with leaf confetti and stick bouquets.
Year after year… we’ve got toddlers crouching like wildlife photographers, whispering, “Shhh… it’s about to do something mysterious.” Meanwhile, another child is halfway through building a mushroom hotel with moss pillows and acorn room service.
And the theories? Oh, the theories.
Child A: “This one’s a fairy toilet.”
Child B: “No, it’s a mushroom spaceship.”
Child C: licks it “It tastes like secrets and spaghetti.”
NB: Yes, we panicked as child C made a move. Of course we did. A wild mushroom appeared and our inner health-and-safety officer sprinted out wielding a clipboard and a whistle. But fear not! This funky little fungus is not poisonous. We Googled, we cross-referenced, we even considered phoning a mushroom hotline (if that exists). Bottom line: it’s harmless. Slightly judgmental-looking, but harmless.
Also, our tiny souls have seen the light—and they shall not be fooled again. Mushrooms, beware. Our kiddies have unlocked the fungi knowledge. Panic reflex: recalibrated.
Honestly, if the mushrooms had a fan page, the kids would be running it—with glitter pens and snack crumbs. Cygnets isn’t just a nursery—it’s a fungal fantasy land. And the mushrooms? They’re thriving on the fame.

Supporting Unlimited Child Development Through Limited Resources at Cygnets Childcare, Redhill
At Cygnets Childcare in Redhill, we understand that learning is not about abundance but about quality experiences. By embracing limited resources creatively, we support children’s development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Through resourceful and imaginative approaches, we help children thrive while meeting all key areas of learning and development.
Here’s how we foster growth through limited resources:
1. Promoting Creativity and Imagination (Expressive Arts and Design): By using simple, everyday materials such as cardboard boxes, fabric scraps, and natural objects, we encourage children to explore and express their creativity. These activities spark imagination while developing their ability to think innovatively and use resources in new ways.
2. Building Problem-Solving Skills (Understanding the World): Limited resources challenge children to think critically and independently. For example, constructing towers with recycled materials or solving puzzles with shared tools develops their curiosity and analytical skills, a key part of the EYFS framework.
3. Encouraging Collaboration and Communication (Communication and Language): Activities involving shared resources naturally promote teamwork. Children practice turn-taking, negotiating, and expressing ideas, strengthening both their language and social skills in accordance with EYFS objectives.
4. Developing Resilience and Independence (Personal, Social, and Emotional Development): By navigating challenges with fewer materials, children learn adaptability, persistence, and confidence. These experiences are invaluable in building emotional resilience and independence.
5. Supporting Physical Development (Physical Development): Limited resources often lead to creative physical activities. For example, using simple objects for balancing games or creating obstacle courses enhances both fine and gross motor skills.
6. Encouraging Early Mathematical Skills (Mathematics): Everyday items like stones, buttons, or sticks are used to teach counting, sorting, and pattern recognition, fostering mathematical thinking in a hands-on and engaging way.
7. Inspiring Literacy (Literacy): Through storytelling, role play, and creative writing activities, children explore language and communication. Even limited materials, like puppets or props, can help bring stories to life and develop literacy skills.
By turning constraints into opportunities, Cygnets Childcare provides children with meaningful learning experiences that align with EYFS goals. Our innovative use of limited resources ensures children grow into resourceful, confident, and well-rounded individuals.
At Cygnets Childcare, Redhill, we believe that the simplest tools often create the most powerful learning moments. Let’s work together to nurture your child’s potential in imaginative and meaningful ways!
