Since September, Mrs Rawlinson and the Eco Team have worked very hard to achieve an Eco Schools Award with distinction for our school. This has involved transforming our garden and pond areas, enhancing our outdoor spaces and opening up opportunities for practical, multi-sensory learning that support the development of stewardship and pride in nature. Having space dedicated to nature is important for so many reasons including enhancing the mental and physical wellbeing of us all. We have also loved seeing so many more of our pupils, staff and parents walking or cycling to school and becoming more aware of the energy we use within school and our homes. We hope to build on this year's achievements next year.... watch this space!

We are so proud of all the children who participate in Rocksteady for their end of term concerts last week!

The children showed such professionalism, confidence and musicality!

Well done to everyone who performed. 🎀🎡🎢🎸πŸ₯

Year 1 made smoothies in DT last week. They had to make two different types of smoothies using fruit they cut using their cutting and chopping skills. We loved doing this and the smoothies were really delicious - yum yum!

Yesterday, Year 1 had a visit from one of our Year 1 parents who keeps bees! 🐝🐝🐝

We learnt about how they are kept, how they make honey and we learnt there are more than 200 different types of bees!

We all got to try some freshly made honey from these honey bee visitors and if we wanted to, we could try on a bee protector suit!

Mrs Rawlinson enjoyed celebrating the efforts of the Eco and JLT teams last week. Together they have achieved improvements to the school lunchtime experience, set up a new garden area and ensured that Student Voice is heard. Both teams were rewarded for their efforts with certificates and some sweet treats. Well done all! I wonder who will be part of these teams next year...?

On Tuesday 7th July, following a day of training earlier in the year, 6 members of Year 5 had the chance to revisit BHF and show off their public speaking skills. The children had spent a lot of time preparing their ideas and notes before showcasing their persuasive speaking skills in front of an audience of other local schools and the team of staff and student judges from BHF. Mrs Rawlinson was incredibly proud to see how each of them stepped up and fought their nerves to deliver very passionate persuasive arguments. Both teams impressed the judges and left the school beaming with their medals and certificates.
Well done!
