Sports and clubs at Loddon Primary School

We offer a range of extracurricular activities to promote fitness, mental-wellbeing and social skills. Using our Sports Premium funding we provide specialist coaching companies to deliver a wide range of sports clubs free of charge to pupils. Some of these clubs give children the opportunity to participate in competitions either in school or representing the school in the borough.

February

Value of the month: Independence

In February we’re exploring the value of independence, which means being able to do things by yourself, make decisions by yourself and take on more responsibility, with less help from adults.

Examples of being independent include:
Brushing your teeth, packing your bag, getting your own snack or deciding what to wear.

Independence also means trying new things and believing you can do those things, even if they feel hard at first. When you try something new on your own, like tying your shoe laces, choosing a book, or solving a problem, you’re learning and growing. It’s okay to make mistakes along the way, because every try helps you gain confidence and learn how to handle challenges.

We will discuss with the children the importance of independence and would welcome your support in talking to your children about:
- Why being independent matters
- Practical ways that we show independence at home and at school
- Who we know who has shown independence, and how

Early Years: Nursery & Reception at Loddon Primary School

Our Nursery take children from the age of 2 years old, and from 3 years old they can also access wrap around care (Breakfast and After school club) with Funtastic Kids Wrap Around Care.

We offer morning* and afternoon sessions and full-days. (*Mornings only for 2 year olds.)

Our Nursery and Reception areas are exceptionally well-equipped, providing a vibrant, welcoming and stimulating environment for our children, including plenty of shaded outdoor space.

We’re fortunate to have a separate, dedicated building for our Early Years children, allowing our youngest learners to thrive in a space designed specifically for them, while still benefiting from being part of the larger school community.

Our Early Years children also have access to a wider range of larger school facilities, enhancing their experiences and opportunities. From the Main Hall where we perform our Christmas production, to outdoor learning spaces, such as the main field where we have our Sports Day.

We believe it’s the best of both worlds: a nurturing, age-appropriate setting with the added advantages of a well-resourced school.

For more information on our Nursery please contact nursery admissions: [email protected]

For more information on our Reception please contact:
[email protected]

Please email the school ([email protected]) or call the school office (0118 926 1449) to book a tour.

We look forward to welcoming you to Loddon Primary School.

📖📚 WORLD BOOK DAY 📖📚

World Book Day is coming up on Thursday 5th March, when all children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character and when we’ll be visited by the author Anna Kemp.

Anna will lead a KS2 and KS1 assembly, and workshops with KS2 classes, and will be signing pre-purchased books after school. (More details on the flyer below.)

Our Reading Reps have also set this year’s World Book Day
competition. They’d like to invite all Loddon pupils to make
a ‘Book in a Box’.

This is where you create a scene or moment from a book within a
shoe (or similar sized) box. If you would like to take part, please
bring in your ‘Book in a Box’ by Thursday 5th March, with your child’s name and class clearly labelled on the box. Children can bring them into class, and they will be collated and looked at during the school day.

We look forward to seeing your fun and creative book-related costumes and any ‘Book in a Box’ entries!

Our Values

As a Values Based Education School we underpin school life and the curriculum with universal positive human values such as respect, ambition, resilience and co-operation. This approach promotes a way of being that values self, others and the environment.

We also offer regular opportunities for self-reflection and mindfulness activities to support children to understand the absolute importance of physical health and mental well-being for happiness and success.

The benefits of this have been the creation of a friendly and inclusive school atmosphere, higher quality academic performance and learners who are increasingly confident and determined to make a positive difference to our ever-changing world.

“My child loves going to Loddon Primary. The teachers and staff are always very warm and supportive towards parents. I am very happy and satisfied that my child is very well nurtured under the supervision of amazing teachers and supportive staff.” - Ayesha, Loddon Primary Parent
