Happy Holidays everyone staff are now on their much deserved break. After a fab summer camp 1. Summer camp 1 was all about fun and togetherness as we enjoyed meeting old friends, dance with Molly Music, meeting the animals with Kieran from Zoo Lab and completing our week with the very best Don Rae Academy of Movement & Arts carnival inspired morning 🎉
We have had the best time and we have enjoyed all our ice lolly treats as a whole nursery celebrating the summer with friends.
We will be back manning emails mid week and we are holding a quieter summer camp 2 on the 3rd August as we embark on our building project but for now let’s enjoy a well deserved rest with our families thank you staff and professionals for making summer camp 1 such a success 🎉

🎉 Wow there we have it another full academic year comes to a close. Class of 2026 you have been amazing!! You are everything that Welly Boot Lodge sets out to achieve - happy confident thriving children who are very much at the core of our community. What a week we have had with extremes in our weather, an Ofsted Inspection and our graduation. Our children really shone and wow what a privilege it was for staff to share in your achievements with our inspector.

☀️It has certainly been a hot and busy few weeks at the Welly Boot! Keeping our children safe during extreme heat has been top priority, our staff team have been amazing! ☀️
A big thank you to all our local schools for supporting our school transitions this summer. We have worked closely with all six schools over the last few weeks, welcoming them to our setting and discussing each child to support a smooth and successful transition. We are proud of our children who will all make excellent school citizens this September! We look forward to making memories over the next week and during summer camp before you all head onto your new adventure.

⭐️School Transition support offer ⭐️

Stay Sun safe! If you are moving outdoors over the next few days during the Red weather alert in force please keep your young children sun safe.
Cover up, keep hydrated, wear sunscreen and a hat. Remind yourselves of the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion/heat stroke. Cool your homes as much a possible. Sleep young children in nappies only (less clothing the better) remembering the safer sleep guidance is to sleep children in temperates of 16-20 degrees - a struggle over the next few days.

⭐️Wow we have been busy! What a great two weeks the children have had here at nursery. The children really do get to experience wonderful real life experiences - there is no better way to learn than being a practical participant. We have also welcomed Lizzie Yoga, Heather from Jolly Melodie’s, Jane our dental nurse, our local primary school teachers who support our transitions and local children’s author Izzy.
Take a look at all the wonderful learning experiences we have been participating in. A big thank you to our staff who go above and beyond to make these experiences possible. ⭐️

Free event tomorrow at Prospect Park to celebrate Readings Children’s Festival 🙌

🌟 Reading Children's Festival 2026 🌟

The Reading Play and Ranger Station is holding an open day on Wednesday 27 May to celebrate Reading Children's Festival!

Between 10am and 4:30pm this free event includes:
🎫 low ropes course (height restrictions 4ft and under only, 8 sessions every 30 minutes)
🏌🏻 mini golf
🌴 climbing wall sessions
💡 imaginary play
🧩 under 5s soft play

No pre booking required, just turn up on the day, sessions for activities will be time allocated.
Please ensure for Low Ropes and climbing wall that appropriate footwear is worn.

⭐️ Wow wow wow what a wonderful end to a fantastic summer term 1! Where does the time go?
This term has been truly wonderful here at Welly Boot Lodge. We have enjoyed so many wonderful learning experiences and completed our term with the best day - Grandparents day 💕 we are truly blessed to have the best community. A big thank you to our staff who have worked so incredibly hard this term to ensure nursery is the most successful place for our children. On behalf of all the children thank you.
