Year 1 learnt how to identify different trees during their trip to Belfairs wood. We learnt about point holly leaves, how rownan leaves have a partner and how oak leaves are wavy. Today we learnt how to tell the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees. We made flat deciduous leaves by printing with potatoes and hen spiky evergreen trees by printing with a fork.

On Monday we participated in the national gallery ‘Take one Picture’ event. We enjoyed studying the painting ‘A Muse (Calliope)’ and recreating our own drawing of it.
We then discussed all of the different textures and materials that we could see in the painting. We had great fun collecting materials and used them to create our own year group version of ‘A Muse’.

We know that wet lunch times can get very overstimulating so after lunch 1V learnt how to play ‘Dots and Boxes’ and we spent 10 minutes playing with a partner. It was a great calming activity for our brains and it’s a game we can play at home on a rainy day ☔️💧🌧️
