Help us Keep Rampton Tidy!
Join the Great Autumn Litter Pick - Saturday 17 October, 2pm

Be a and join us once again in a community clean up. Help us collect all those discarded bottles, cans and general rubbish that are disfiguring our village and endangering wildlife so that we can all enjoy a healthier environment.

Meet up at the Green at 2pm to collect litter grabbers, high-vis jackets, gloves and rubbish bags. We’ll finish up at Rampton Village Hall afterwards for a chat with friends and neighbours as well as a welcome cuppa and piece of cake.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible, including children who always make very enthusiastic and energetic litter pickers!
Please note that children need to be under the close supervision of a responsible adult.

Our 3rd Swish was a great success! This year we took in 152.9kg of clothing and accessories and were left with 69kg - which means that 83.9kg was swished! The leftover items were donated to local charity shops in the spirit of Secondhand September. https://secondhandseptember.org

Thank you to all the Swishers who supported the event! It was great to see so many familiar faces as well as Swishers from other villages enjoying the event. All were instrumental in reducing the environmental impact of clothing by giving the clothes they took a second life.

(The average carbon footprint of producing one kilogram of clothing is roughly 15 to 35 kilograms of COâ‚‚ equivalent (COâ‚‚e), depending on the fabric type and manufacturing efficiency. Extending the life of clothes by just 9 months of active use would reduce carbon, water and waste footprints by 20-30% each according to WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). https://www.wrap.ngo/resources/guide/extending-clothing-life-protocol

As always, the event's success was due to all the wonderful villagers who helped display and fold clothes, served in the cafe and helped clear up. We were also grateful to those Swishers who helped in displaying the clothes while waiting for the swishing to start.

The Extending Clothing Life Protocol is a set of guides and principles to aid clothes designers and manufacturers in creating longer lasting clothing.

Looking forward to our 3rd SWISH - just 10 days to go!

This year we're delighted to be coinciding with Secondhand September https://secondhandseptember.org, come along and support this fantastic initiative to reduce waste and the harmful effects of fast fashion.

Please start sorting and setting aside your unwanted clothes, shoes and accessories in good, clean condition (no underwear).

This is a FREE event, you can bring and take as much clothing as you like. Items left over at the end of the afternoon will be donated to local charity shops.

Please bring clothes etc. that you wish to swap between 11:00-11:30 am on the day. Our volunteers will then hang them on rails/display them before browsing starts at 11:30 am.

Our café will be open throughout the event from 11:00 am, so you can have a cuppa and piece of cake while you're waiting for the swishing to begin.

Donations for the clothes you choose to take away are very welcome, and will allow us to cover our expenses and fund future events and local sustainability projects.

Helpers needed - if you are able to spare an hour or two on the day e.g. to help put the clothes out, help in the cafe or clear up afterwads, that would be great!

No clothes to donate? No problem, come and grab a bargain/have a cuppa anyway. We hope to see you there!
