Life skills curriculum and activities planning. I have worked in education for almost 30 years, with both children and adults. Throughout my career I have specialised in special educational needs and other additional needs. My passion is to support people to access learning opportunities and to overcome any barriers to this. Many people have experienced difficulties in learning or have seen their
children struggle to access and engage with school. Sometimes this may be because of an underlying difficulty that has not been recognised. By assessing general ability, I am able to identify whether a specific learning difficulty is likely to underlie this difficulty. After spending time exploring how the individual feels about learning and about themselves as learners, I assess ability and provide a comprehensive and individual report suggesting strategies and techniques to enable everyone to better access learning opportunities. This service can also support adults in employment who experience anxiety or difficulties when asked to complete written tasks. It may be that this is due to previous difficulties whilst at school, perhaps caused by a specific learning need which was never identified.
