Huge and emotional day in mum's life. My little one is not so little anymore. I can't believe today was the last day of nursery and a start of a new chapter.

Although she is finished for the summer mummy dearest is not. Still going strong with online and face to face lessons and accepting new students ๐Ÿ˜‰

WHAT'S UP WITH SQUEAKY CLASSICS?!

Since the arrival of my second child I can't help it - I am too deep in all that is baby and baby development and I have noticed the tendency for the classical music to be high pitched! I call it "squeaky" music. The moment you hit "baby music" in Spotify you are presented with a selection of classical pieces which sound as if they were coming out of a music box.

The question is WHY?!

๐ŸŽถ The babies are capable of hearing and understanding real music from the very beginning.

๐ŸŽถ Moreover, they prefer low rumbling sounds... drum beats, low tunes, etc. It is something to do with the vibrations and resembling the womb sounds.

๐ŸŽถ It is now a proven fact that original classical music (especially Bach and Mozart) is perfect for developing neuron connections in babies brains.

๐ŸŽถ It is recommended to play original classical pieces (OK not necessarily Wagner or Shostokovich) to babies and children on a regular basis.

So why this squeaky music? To sound more magical and more "baby-ish" ?

What are your thoughts on it?

ANNIVERSARIES...
8 years and counting!

We are too different and people were betting on us (or shall I say against us). Nobody believed we would last this long.
But here we are.

Happy anniversary!

MAMA NEEDS SOME...

Sustanance and time off.

I have stayed off this profile for a while now - my apologies.

Quite recently my new life chapter has begun.

Since now I am a proud Mama of two I need some time to adjust to my new role as well as help people around me adjust to theirs.

Hence, me being off Instagram and taking some time off face to face teaching.

Since music is not going anywhere and it is heavily present in our family's life I will be posting occasional posts.

And on this note I have discovered that both of my kids really like "Toss a coin to the witcher" the and version (even though none of us are watching it - we just came across it on )

Not a classical piece but a really good one, very harmonic and deep.

What is your favourite piece of film / show music?

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you are having an amazing day wherever you are and whatever you do!

CLASSICAL MUSIC IS ALL AROUND US...
โ €
We just need to recognise it!
โ €
The other day one of my students was humming a melody that sounded really familiar, it sounded like "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (Edward Grieg) but not quite.
โ €
So I asked a question: "๐˜ž๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ ๐˜ฉ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ?"
โ €
The answer was a bit unexpected: "๐˜ˆ๐˜ฉ, ๐˜ช๐˜ต'๐˜ด ๐˜ซ๐˜ถ๐˜ด๐˜ต ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜ฌ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ง๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ ๐˜›๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ญ๐˜ญ (๐˜ง๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ฎ). ๐˜๐˜ต'๐˜ด ๐˜ค๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ณ ๐˜œ๐˜ฑ"
โ €
Well, I must tell you despite having a 4.5 year old I am not very familiar with Trolls, so a bit of "youtubing" brought some results - indeed it came up with "Hair Up":

โœ…Justine Timberlake, Gwen Stefani and Ron Funches - all the modern singers

โœ…very Hip-Hop tune

โœ… very catchy

(if you are not familiar go check it out https://youtu.be/Z5cYi1q24JU)...

BUT
โ €
It was based on Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" (https://youtu.be/4nMUr8Rt2AI).
โ €
I seized the opportunity and with the opening line "๐˜ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ, ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜ฆ ๐˜ข ๐˜•๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ๐˜ธ๐˜ฆ๐˜จ๐˜ช๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜จ๐˜ถ๐˜บ ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฅ ๐˜Œ๐˜ฅ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ฅ, ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ธ๐˜ณ๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ข๐˜ณ..." I managed to get that student's mind into classical music.
โ €
We listened to the original and the student was really surprised and impressed...

(ok it took a bit of trivia to convince them that it was written well before Trolls have ever existed)

but the task was accomplished: not only this student now knows who Edward Grieg is but...
โ €..... It inspired them to look for more of his music!๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽถ
โ €
So next time when somebody tells you that classical music is boring and only for the chosen ones - just ask them to listen to the "Hair UP"
โ €
Have you compared those two tunes? What say you?

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED THIS CHALLENGE BEFORE?โฃ

Pat your head with one hand and rub your belly in a circular motion with another hand at the same time!โฃ

๐˜๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฅ ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ?!โฃ

โฃ
It is all down to the neuro connections and "conversation" our left half of the brain has with the right one.โฃ ๐Ÿง
โฃ
The better we develop it in children the more and better neuro connections they have.โฃ
โฃ
And as a result they are:โฃ
โฃ
๐Ÿ‘‰ better developedโฃ
๐Ÿ‘‰ have more elements of creativity and logic rather than dominance of only one or only anotherโฃ
๐Ÿ‘‰ have better memory and ability to study languages, including their native tongueโฃ
โฃ
And this can be achieved with simplest activities, such as:โฃ

โœ… games (combinations of jumps, claps, taps)โฃ
โœ… series of rhythmic patterns (using percussions instruments)โฃ
โœ… actions to music and with the musicโฃ
โœ… listening to the musicโฃ
โœ… playing musical instrumentโฃ
โฃ
I am already offering these elements as part of my piano lessons. โฃ
โฃ
However, from the NEW TERM I will be offering it as a small group activity outside piano lessons.โฃ

WHAT DOES BEING A MUM MEAN?
โ €
Today's post was supposed to be different, more musical, more professional. And I apologise if someone was hoping for more "to the point" post.
โ €
But at 4.40 am this morning as my 4 y.o. climbed into our bed full of "monster fear" and as I lay sleepless next to her this post came to me.

In my youth, when I was doing my music degree I never intended to be a teacher. I wanted to be a musician, I wanted to be an accompanist and even a composer (created a few pieces) but NEVER a teacher.
โ €
I figured that I didn't have enough patience for children nonsense. My thoughts were processed at a warp speed and so was my life. Back then in my semi-childish opinion of a 20+ year old children were annoying, slow and not fun to work with.
โ €
The idea of an acompanist didn't work out, so I figured - just change your path. And so I did!
โ €
Yes music still had an important place in it. And yes I was ocassionally consulting out of my expertise but it was never a career.
โ €
And then at some point in my life I had my child, I became a MUM! And the world had turned up side down.
โ €
This almost 3.5 kg of joy changed me forever.
โ €
โค๏ธ I have discovered that I have a patience and love to handle an army of kids.
โ €
โค๏ธ I have discovered that children are fun and that they are the pure innocence of this world.
โ €
โค๏ธ I have discovered that children are creative and with a bit of encouragement they are almost superhumans.
โ €
โค๏ธ And I have discovered that they need our help and understanding. They need us to listen to them and guide them.
โ €
However, we need guidance too.
And this strange combination of overwhelming power and at times unbearable guilt that sets in the moment our children are born I believe is our guiding light.
โ €
It certainly guides me as a mum and as it turned out as a music teacher - this constant pursuit of finding better ways.
โ €
And I am so grateful for the life opportunity that made me realise that this is my true passion.
โ €
What are your thoughts guys? Did parenthood change you?

Piano lessons for adult beginners?
โ €
Sure! Why not?
โ €
How many of us can say that they have guts to follow their dream, whatever that may be?
โ €
Once you reach adulthood and the problems swoosh over you the last thing you want is to dedicate even a little time to your passion.
โ €
This constant feel of guilt (especially if you have a family!).

โ €
Sounds familiar?
โ €
But you are not old! And you deserve some time just for yourself.
โ €
Do you know that adults usually learn faster than kids, because:
โ €
โœ… It was their decission to learn
โ €
โœ… They have fast knowledge and life experience which helps
โ €
โœ… They process information differently
โ €
โœ… They usually have a specific aim
โ €
โœ… Their brain is developed and they don't need to acquire a completely new skill, they just adopt the ones they have
โ €

โ €
By the way did you know that a very famous composer - Aram Khachaturian - started his music career when he was 18?! This fairly old age for professional music never stopped his talent.
โ €
So don't let your fear stop yours!
