My nieces thought they failed SATs, and Ive taught many others since 2011 who thought the same.
A teacher who tells a child they will fail SATs shouldn't be teaching ❌ I know the system piles the pressure on teachers but remember
When teachers use the threat of failure as a motivational tool, it creates a toxic learning environment.
It misrepresents the purpose of the test. SATs are largely a representation of the schools, not a child.
It's completely wrong there is no pass or fail.
Final very important point: it shows they are a BAD teacher. Good teaching inspires curiosity, a desire to learn, and confidence. Threatening kids doesn't promote this.
Have you heard a teacher talking about failing SATs?

Why do you have spaces in all year groups ?
Y7 - 4 Spaces
Often these end up with those who dont get their specialist choice, and go to tribunal, or those who start mainstream and leave.
Y8 - 3 spaces
One student is remaining with us, others have found specialist places or returned to mainstream
Y9 - 4 spaces
2025/2026 Y8 all returned to mainstream
Y10 - 1 space
Most students from year 9 are remaining with us for their GCSE pathway
Y11 - 2 spaces
