🎤📚 National Storytelling Week: Dyslexic Edition 📚🎤
Once upon a time…
there was a dragon 🐉
who couldn’t spell fire
but could definitely breathe it 🔥
So he told his story by:
🎙️ roaring it out loud
🎨 drawing epic dragon doodles
🎬 acting it out with way too much drama
The end. Or maybe the middle. Who knows? 😜
Stories don’t need perfect spelling to be powerful.
Celebrate storytelling YOUR way 💥
✨

Dyslexic learners are being let down by a postcode lottery of support, inconsistent guidance, and a lack of specialist expertise — and the consequences follow them through their entire education.
🚨 Urgent action is needed.
Dyslexia-friendly practice shouldn’t depend on where a child lives.
Inclusive ideas to try this week as part of National Storytelling Week:
• 🎧 Listen to audiobooks or podcasts instead of reading
• 🎭 Act out a story using drama or role play
• 🖼 Create a story through drawing, comics or storyboards
• 🧱 Build a story using LEGO, objects or small-world play
• 🎥 Record a video or voice note story
• 🤝 Tell a story together — one sentence at a time
Because storytelling isn’t about spelling every word right ✨
It’s about being heard.
National Storytelling Week reminds us that stories don’t belong to just one format or one “right” way of learning.
For people with dyslexia, storytelling might come through spoken word, pictures, audio, drama, or imagination that runs miles ahead of the page - and that’s something to celebrate.
Every story matters. Every voice counts. Let’s make space for stories told differently. ✨

I've read a great article in the SEN magazine today by Michelle Catterson. This statement really hit home;
'Dyslexia is not just about literacy. It's about identity, confidence and potential. When schools get it right, the ripples reach far beyond the classroom.'
A full dyslexia assessment can help provide school with vital information about your child's strengths and difficulties with recommendations of how best to support them.
Book in for a free consultation call to discuss getting your child the support they need.
