🏃♀️🏃♂️ Cross Country Challenge! 🏃♂️🏃♀️
Just before half term, a group of our pupils proudly represented the school at a Cross Country event held at the University of Lancashire.
Competing against children from around 20 schools from across the local area, our runners showed fantastic determination, resilience and enthusiasm as they tackled the challenging course. They demonstrated excellent sportsmanship throughout the event, encouraging one another and giving their very best effort from start to finish.
We are incredibly proud of how they represented our school and the positive attitude they displayed throughout the day. Well done to all of our runners on a fantastic achievement!

🌟 Year 3 Update 🌟
Year 3 have had a busy and exciting few weeks packed full of learning and community spirit!
As part of Community Champions Week, the children designed positive message postcards to spread kindness throughout our local community. A group of pupils joined Mrs Scott and Mrs Ireland to deliver the postcards through local letterboxes, helping to brighten people's days with their thoughtful messages. 💌😊
In Science, Year 3 have been exploring our Light and Shadows unit. We have investigated reflective materials and learnt about the differences between opaque, transparent and translucent objects. The children's favourite activity was tracking their shadows throughout the day and observing how they changed as the position of the sun moved. 🔦☀️
Meanwhile, in Computing, the children have been thoroughly enjoying their Scratch coding unit. As their first introduction to the coding programme, they have loved discovering what it can do! Working collaboratively in pairs, they have been creating and following algorithms using events, movement and sound to bring their projects to life. 💻🎮
Well done, Year 3 – we are so proud of your enthusiasm, creativity and hard work!

🌞 Calling Local Businesses! 🌞
We are currently planning our Summer Fair on Wednesday 8th July from 3:30pm and are looking for local businesses who may be interested in having a stall at our event.
Whether you offer:
🏰 Bouncy castles and inflatables
🎨 Face painting or children's entertainment
🛍️ Crafts, gifts or local products
🎯 Games and activities
..we would love to hear from you!
The fair is always well attended by local families and provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase your business within the community. In return for a stall space, we would simply ask for a donation to our school fund, helping us to raise money for resources and experiences for our children.
We are also looking for local businesses who may be willing to donate a prize, gift, voucher or experience that we can use for our raffle or other fundraising activities. Donations of any size would be greatly appreciated and would help us raise even more money for our children.
If you are interested in having a stall, donating a prize, or would like more information, please send us a message or contact the school directly.
Please feel free to share this post with anyone who may be interested. Thank you for supporting our school and local community! 😊

Our first Community Champions week was a huge success and we'd like to thank everyone in the local area who supported us and cheered us on as we got out and about making a positive difference to our local area. We'll keep sharing photos of what we got up to. Year 6 went litter picking to help keep our streets and green spaces clean and safe. They did a great job and had mastered scooping anything up with the grabber by the end of the week. Well done Year 6, we are very proud of you!

📚🌳 Year 5 In-Class Debate: Deforestation vs Economic Development 🌳📚
In Year 5, the pupils took part in a lively and thoughtful in-class debate exploring the question: Should deforestation continue in order to support economic development?
The class were divided into different political parties, each with their own viewpoints and arguments. Every group and individual engaged really well with the discussion, showing excellent teamwork, reasoning and respect for different opinions.
The debate was well chaired by Victoria and Albert, who did a fantastic job of keeping the discussion organised and ensuring everyone had the opportunity to contribute.
Well done, Year 5, for your enthusiasm and mature approach to such an important global issue! 👏
