In the event that your child is unwell with symptoms of respiratory illness (including COVID) we respectfully ask that they remain at home until they feel well enough to return to school. Thank you.

The school has placed great value on the framework that LPPA provides since we were first awarded back in 2009 and effectively supports the school in further developing and strengthening our partnership with parents.

We are so proud of Anneke Crosby! Our former Child and Family Support Manager has very recently completed an Ultra Marathon in aid of our school and Derian House.
Anneke ran from Manchester to Liverpool in a staggering 10 hours and 17 minutes-and she was still smiling at the finish line!
She has raised an amazing £700 for us and we are so very grateful to her for supporting us in this way.
Well done, Anneke.

Hello

As you all know, the school has been repeatedly targeted by anti social behaviour resulting in damage to the school totalling approximately £17.000.
Our school budget can no longer sustain the costs associated with replacing items and repairing damage and we are now launching our very own campaign through the online fundraising platform, Just Giving.

We absolutely understand that many families are facing unprecedented financial challenges as we find ourselves in the midst of a Cost in Living Crisis. Any donation (however small) to the school would be most gratefully received. You could also sign up to a fundraising activity that could generate additional funds for the school.

For your convenience, please find the QR code for our online campaign page below. (You should be able to use the camera on any smart phone or tablet that will generate the link to the page where you can make your donation. ) Please feel free to share this code/ or this email with anyone close to you who may also feel inclined to help our lovely school.
Should you like more information then please do not hesitate to contact us here at the school.

As always we thank you, in anticipation, for all your support.

Good afternoon

We are pleased to inform you that a temporary fix has been made one of the school boilers which we believe means that school will be open tomorrow.
School transport will be informed this afternoon.
If anything changes, we will let you know at the earliest possible opportunity.
Whilst the circumstances were beyond our control, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused today.

08/12/2022

IMPORTANT NEWS: The Coppice School is without heating today and therefore we have no other option but to close the school whilst we await repairs. We apologise for any inconvenience this may bring but the health and safety of pupils in this cold weather remains a priority. Thank you for your understanding.

Photos from The Coppice School's post 30/11/2022

Since September the school has experienced an unprecedented wave of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage. Youths are climbing on the school roof most nights and are kicking off stack pipes and gas flues. More recently, they have stripped us of external CCTV and turned their attention to the lanterns above our pool area. (These are very much like skylights and serve to protect the water from daylight that can form algae on the surface of the pool.) Lanterns have been repeatedly kicked, smashed and debris has fallen onto specialist pool blinds and then into the pool water and surrounding area.
Unsurprisingly, this has forced a pool closure for the last couple of days whilst contractors repair our roof and remove the debris from the water. It is especially frustrating when our pool has only just reopened to pupils following extensive boiler replacements and electrical repairs.
Our pupils need to access the pool for hydrotherapy purposes as it promotes active movement for our most vulnerable learners. We cannot imagine that anyone would want to deny these children their access to our pool-yet, this is happening night after night. Their actions are morally reprehensible.
It is our understanding that replacing one lantern costs approximately £1,000 and we have just one lantern left intact on our roof out of a possible 8.
In total, we estimate that damage is approaching the £17,000 mark and our school budget simply cannot sustain this any longer.
Once again, we urge our neighbours in the local community to report any incident to the police. We continue to work in partnership with the police and have been visited by crime scene officers for evidence just this morning.
Thank you for your support in such challenging times.

02/11/2022

The school continues to be subject to regular vandalism from local youths who are relentlessly climbing on the roof and kicking off gas flues. Yesterday, this mindless damage led to a leak in one of our classrooms.
In the very early hours of the morning on Saturday 22nd October all four of our external CCTV cameras were smashed off their brackets too - but not before the cameras caught youths on film "trying" doors to gain access.
Once again, damage has been reported to the police and we continue to work with them in identifying those responsible.

We appeal in particular to our neighbours and kindly ask them to report any vandalism or attempts to break into our school whilst it is happening. Special thanks to Chorley Police who dropped by last night on their patrol to provide additional presence in the area.

Every time our school is targeted in this way precious funds are diverted to maintain our premises - instead of being spent on resources, staffing and keeping our school warm during the winter. Please support our school in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable children in our society.
Thank you.

It's been great getting to know you all over the past year and I will miss you, but I am off to pastures new! All the very best to you all and your amazing young people! It has been amazing working with you all :-)

Thank you to the parents who came into school today to meet Lisa from Fledglings, who brought in a selection of their products. One thing some of us (including me) learned today was if you have a radar key you can access disabled public toilets, so if you need one Fledglings sell them for £4! I hope the session was helpful and gave you some ideas :-)

Huge thanks to all parents and carers who so kindly sent in donations of food for our Harvest Celebration-our last Harvest assembly was three years ago. It was very special being together again in this way. We were autumn ’detectives’, sang Harvest songs and explored autumn leaves and conkers.
Our contribution will be making its way to a local food bank very soon to help those who need it most.
