📢 Support research into exam accessibility for neurodivergent students

The UCL Centre for Research in Autism and Education (CRAE), in partnership with Pearson, is inviting UK schools and colleges to take part in an important project exploring how neurodivergent and neurotypical students approach GCSE exam questions.

The aim is to help make exams more accessible and fair for all learners.

UK-based schools and colleges delivering Pearson GCSEs are invited to take part in this important project by sharing brief information about their neurodivergent GCSE cohorts - a simple process that should take no more than 30 minutes.

We are deeply concerned about the proposed changes to the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) set out in the Government consultation, which closes on 18 June. We will be submitting our own response to ensure the voices and experiences of disabled students are represented.

We encourage all dyslexic students to share their views with DSUK, BATA and NUS by completing the form before 11 June: https://loom.ly/elr86hY

Your feedback is crucial in helping decision-makers understand the potential impact of these changes.

Writing tasks can feel easier with the right tools.

Consider:
- Speech-to-text software
- Mind-mapping ideas before writing
- Writing the main ideas first, then editing later

Separating thinking from spelling and grammar can make writing more manageable.
