Hope youโve all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed some quality time with the family?
If, like us, the family have cleared the bread loaves ๐ from the kitchen shelves and tangerines ๐ out of the fridge at home, or you just need to re-stock, our friends at Newtown Food Surplus are in school from 2pm this afternoon.
Come on down and save it going to landfill!

There will be parking on site and lots of faces to guide you down to the hall itself.
Please spread the word of this location change, it will be warm & well lit inside and full of our friendly volunteers ๐
We presume there will be lots of lovely food on offer at this share, so bring a bag and come and help yourself!

*New School Building*
Over the past few months Staff and Governors have been working with Powys County Council Transformation Team on our new school building. The first two stages of this process look at the current requirements and what we would like included in our new build.
Some draft plans have been made and it was great to be able to share them with our school Learning Council this week and take in their views.
We will now take this feedback to our next meeting with the Transformation Team and develop the plans further.
We are hoping to have some further plans to share with our parents soon in the new year.
๐๐ณGreat eco news! ๐๐ณ
After the efforts of our classes a few weeks ago, it has been confirmed that we collected a mammoth grand total of 48.52kg of PURE and WHOLESOME Calon y Dderwen acorns from our school grounds!
Our efforts were judged by Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales , along with the efforts of 132 other schools and community groups across Wales. They measured the quality and quantity of our collection as well as the time and care taken to collect the acorns.
The outcome of this was that we have been awarded as the winning collection and awarded with the GOLDEN ACORN AWARD, which we are incredibly proud of! ๐๐๐ณ๐
Our school name, badge, vision embraces everything about the oak tree and our truly wonderful school grounds and itโs great to have been involved and recognised for this award.
A huge diolch oโr galon to Miss Allen for driving this effort and to all our children for collecting what have been recognised as some of the finest acorns in the land!

Fantastic for some of our school Eco group to link up with our friends from the amazing Newtown Food Surplus programme.
We have not only saved some food going to waste but have also got some free treats and snacks for our children during breaktime tomorrow.
After a busy morning, both sat down for a well deserved treat of warm crusty croissants and a glass of milk.
(Even the staff had a treat of a sausage baguette ๐ฅ (locally sourced!)
Looking forward to this becoming a regular occurrence by our Eco Council ๐๐ณ
