More books arrived today! 📚💛

It’s so exciting to see the collection growing, with books covering lots of different aspects of neurodiversity and helping children understand that every brain is brilliant in its own way.

We’re also really excited to share the special stickers that will go inside the front cover of every donated book.

Each one tells the story of why the book is there, introduces Dexter, and says a huge thank you to everyone who has supported this mission. Every child who opens one of these books will know that it was donated because lots of amazing people came together to help make a difference.

A little side note… the cost of designing and printing the stickers has been covered by Dexter’s parents, so as much of the money raised as possible goes directly towards books and resources for schools. 💛

Thank you to every single person who has donated, shared our story or cheered us on. None of this would be possible without you.

Different minds. One amazing world. ⭐

Sorry we’ve been a little quiet recently… we’ve had lots going on behind the scenes! 💛

We’re so excited to share that the first of the books we’ve ordered have started arriving, along with the beanbags for our first reading spaces! 📚✨

We’re now working with Dexter’s school to get everything delivered over the next few days, and we can’t wait to share some photos of Dexter with the books and resources once they’re in place.

And that’s not all…

We’ve managed to keep some of the fundraising budget aside, which means we’ll soon be opening nominations for schools to receive a selection of books too! 🥳

We’ll be sharing all the details very soon, so keep an eye on the page if you’d like to nominate a school that you think would benefit.

Thank you for believing in this mission and helping us show more children that every brain is brilliant in its own way. 💛

This week is Neurodiversity Celebration Week… and this is Dexter’s version of it 💛

He sat down and created his own “ADHD rules”.

In his words:

– ADHD can mean feeling invisible sometimes
– It can bring really strong emotions
– You might feel sad, angry, or annoyed more intensely
– The best thing you can do is talk to someone
– If you don’t, those feelings can build up
– Be funny
– Be strong
– Be smart with your decisions

And my favourite part…
“You need to be strong… keep going.”

This is exactly why Dexter’s Dream exists.

Not just to help children understand themselves…
but to help everyone else understand them too.

Because the hardest part isn’t having ADHD.
It’s when people don’t get it.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it 💛

We’re feeling incredibly grateful again today 🫶🏼

Dexter's Mission has been featured in another local news, and we honestly couldn’t be more thankful for the support from our community.

This project started with one simple, child-led idea. To see it being recognised and shared more widely means so much, not just to us, but to every child who wants to feel understood, included and celebrated in school.

Thank you to the local press The Argus for taking the time to listen and to tell the story so thoughtfully. And thank you to everyone who continues to follow, share and support what we’re building.

We’re still in the early stages, still developing, still learning, but moments like this remind us why we started.

Onwards 💛

We made the news 💙

Dexter’s Mission has been featured in The News, Portsmouth, and we could not be more proud.

What started as a conversation between a ten-year-old and his mum is now reaching thousands of people. The article shares why Dexter believes neurodiversity should be part of everyday school culture, not something explained only when a problem arises.

This is not just about one child.
It is about children’s voices.
It is about helping all kids understand different brains in a positive way.

We are so grateful for the support so far. Every donation, share, and message is helping this grow.

You can read the full article here:

Please keep sharing. The more people who see this, the more schools and families we can reach.

Dexter says thank you for believing in his dream 💙

A ten-year-old’s dream to improve neurodivergent representation across schools after feeling misunderstood amongst peers has prompted the launch of a new scheme to promote inclusion.

06/02/2026

We have now raised £815 for Dexter's Mission, which is amazing!

The support so far has meant more than we can say. Every donation, share, and message is helping Dexter’s idea grow and turn into something that can reach more children and schools.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far. Please keep sharing if you can, as every bit of visibility helps this grow even further.

Dexter says a massive thank you 💙

We have set up a ADHD Parents Support Group UK Facebook Group and wanted to share it here.

There are some brilliant ADHD parent groups online, but many are worldwide and so large that conversations can be hard to follow. Advice can also be difficult to apply when healthcare, medication, and education systems differ between countries.

This group is specifically for UK parents and carers, keeping discussions relevant, focused, and easier to engage with.

It is a peer support space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and supporting one another through the realities of raising a child with ADHD in the UK. Relevant professionals are welcome, provided contributions are helpful and non-promotional.

Privacy matters. Introducing yourself is optional, and you are welcome to anonymise posts if that feels safer.

If this sounds useful, please join the group and share it with any UK families who have children with ADHD 💙

A few people have asked how they can help with Dexter's Mission, so I wanted to share where we are and what support would be most useful right now.

Firstly, donations make a real difference. They allow us to fund books, resources, and neurodiversity-positive spaces in schools.

Very soon, we will also be asking for:
• Nominations of schools to receive books
• Input from teachers and children
• Recommendations for books and fidget resources

We are just taking a little time to build the right systems to capture this properly so nothing gets lost and it can be done thoughtfully and safely.

In the meantime, as we build the foundations, this is where we could really use help.

Right now, we are looking for support with:
• A simple Wix website build
• Setting up accounts and basic infrastructure
• Light-touch legal guidance as the project grows
• Logo and brand design
• Creative design support for resources and social content

We would also love to connect with:
• Well-known, published authors who would like to collaborate with Dexter on writing a children’s book
• Publishers, both digital and paperback
• Distribution partners
• ADHD advocates, speakers, or well-known voices who might want to support or collaborate

And honestly, if you have other ideas, introductions, or skills that could help as we build this properly, we would love to hear from you.

Dexter’s Mission is a child-led project, and we are being intentional about building it carefully so it can grow and last.

If you would like to help in any of these ways, please drop comments, tag people or DM me. And if you are not able to get involved directly, sharing still helps enormously.

Thank you for being part of this. We are just getting started 💙

Dexter’s Mission

Dexter’s Mission started with a simple question.

I asked my son, Dexter, what he wanted to be when he grows up.

Dexter has ADHD. We have always spoken about this openly, not as something to be hidden or corrected, but as part of who he is. Neurodiversity is not a flaw. It is a difference that should be visible, valued, and celebrated.

His answer stayed with me.

He said he wanted to create something that goes into schools. Not just to help children with ADHD understand themselves, but to help everyone else see it too. As he put it, “The hardest part isn’t me having ADHD. It’s when other people don’t get it.”

That idea never left him.

More recently, while choosing a book at school with a teaching assistant, Dexter realised there were no books that represented him. He said he had only ever seen a couple of books about autism, and none that reflected ADHD or neurodiversity more broadly in a positive, everyday way.

No characters like him.
No stories that celebrate difference.
No quiet message that his brain is something to be proud of.

That moment is where Dexter’s Mission stopped being an idea and became something real.

This fundraiser is the first step in bringing Dexter’s vision to life.

Dexter’s Mission is a child-led project built on a simple belief: neurodiversity should be part of school culture, not something explained only when a problem arises.

Schools often have policies around inclusion, and when concerns are raised, many respond with care and commitment. That support matters. But it is often reactive. By the time intervention is needed, children are already navigating misunderstanding or stigma.

The aim of Dexter’s Mission is to close that gap.

Children should grow up already knowing that different brains exist, that they bring different strengths, and that those differences make classrooms richer. Neurodiversity should be something children admire and value, not something they are taught to tolerate or make allowances for.

Funds raised will support:

A growing collection of age-appropriate books that positively represent and celebrate neurodiversity

Neurodiversity-friendly spaces within schools that make difference visible and valued

Practical tools such as fidget toys that support focus, regulation, and inclusion

Support for schools to do more during key celebration moments, including Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Neurodiversity Pride Day, and condition-specific months such as ADHD Awareness Month

Funds will be shared across multiple schools. Dexter’s school will be one of the first to receive resources, but this project is not about a single school. It is about building something that can grow, spread, and reach more children over time.

As Dexter’s Mission develops, the ambition is to:

Donate books and resources to additional schools

Build social media pages to share learning, celebration, and progress

Create a website as the project grows, making ideas and resources accessible to more communities

All funds raised will be used directly for books, resources, and materials donated to schools. There is no personal benefit to me, and transparency will always be central to this project.

This may have started with a conversation in a car, but it is driven by a child who believes that difference should be celebrated before it ever needs to be explained.

Dexter is ten years old.
He has ADHD.
And he believes his brain is something to be proud of.

Dexter’s Mission is just beginning.

Thank you for supporting, sharing, or helping this grow.
