Toddler Tales (Age 1+) - encourages early language and literacy
Story Stars (Age 2+) - introduces letters and sounds for early reading fun
Reading Recruits (Ages 3 - 5) - develops skills to prepare your child for reading at school.

Happy International Cat Day! Celebrate our very special friend Chat Cat with us today! 🎉🎉🎉
Does your child love Chat Cat? Chat Cat is one of our most popular toys in our classes but did you know how this character can help your little one?
Chat Cat helps children grow their vocabulary so that they can understand and enjoy books and have the language to communicate about the world around them.
In our Toddler Tales class, children learn topic-based words, linked to a group of words for example: animals – farm animals - cow, pig, duck etc. Children, then, link the word to an aspect of that word e.g. the sound it makes ‘moo’ and then the word is put into context – let’s pat the cow. Children will hear adjectives used to describe themselves and verbs to describe their actions.
In our Story Stars classes, Chat Cat reinforces language, moving from receptive to expressive vocabulary encouraging children to point and say the name of things (which are part of the theme). Most weeks there is a Chat Cat audio activity linked to the theme, which supports children’s listening and attention skills.
Our Reading Recruits children use our Talkabout cards to discuss with their carer, what they can see and what is happening in the pictures. Parents support their children in speaking in full sentences, encouraging use of adjectives, verbs and prepositions.
Feel free to share in the comments any photos of your Chat Cat loving little one with their cute soft toy versions or their real life furry friends. Chat Cat would love to see!
Purr-fect! 🐈🐈⬛ Milly 🐈

EXCLUSIVE!!!! Here’s a little sneaky peek at our timetable for our Autumn term starting on 16th September!!!
Our timetable has changed slightly from next term due to having to factor in the school run and we will be running fewer classes due to this reason so spaces in some classes are like gold dust!
Very few spaces remain in our younger classes but there are still lots of spaces in our Friday Story Stars Plus class at 11.45 and our Reading Recruits School Starters 2027 across multiple days. Booking will be opening for general sale on 10th August. If you would like to receive priority booking before this date, please join the waitlist online or message me.
DM or email [email protected] with any queries. I will be taking annual leave from 3rd August - 7th August so may take slightly longer to get back to you but I will certainly do my best to be as prompt as I can be

Today is International Day of Friendship!
At Reading Fairy Portsmouth we love to see children socialising and building bonds with their peers but we love to see friendships between caregivers form too.
Parenthood can feel lonely at times especially when you are in the thick of raising toddlers and preschoolers. The days are long, conversations are often interrupted, and it’s easy to lose sight of the person you were before becoming “Mum” or “Dad.” Building bonds with others in a similar era as you is vital for your own sanity!
Today, on International Friendship Day, we’re celebrating every friendship that began with a shy smile at a baby/ toddler group and grew into something that makes the parenting journey a little lighter.
Because while our children are learning how to make friends, so are we. ❤️
Tag a friend you’ve met through a group who has made your parenting journey brighter. We’d love to celebrate them with you.
