This week, our toddlers enjoyed a lovely trip to the local shop, where they followed a shopping list to find and buy the ingredients needed to bake some delicious autumn biscuits.
When they returned to nursery, the children worked together to mix all the ingredients and enjoyed getting hands-on with the baking process. They then used a selection of autumn-themed cutters to create biscuits in lots of different shapes.

It was a wonderful learning experience that encouraged the children to develop their communication, independence, counting and fine motor skills, while having lots of fun along the way.

For World Heart Day, our preschoolers enjoyed a creative heart-themed activity.

Using cotton pads and coloured water in pipettes, the children created their own colourful hearts while developing their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration.

It was a fun and engaging way to explore colours and creativity while learning about our hearts.

Our New Music Wall!🎶
We’ve been busy creating a wonderful new music wall area in the garden, giving the children a fun and exciting way to explore sound, rhythm and music outdoors.

From tapping and banging to experimenting with different sounds, the children can use their imaginations, get creative and enjoy making music together. It’s a fantastic addition to our outdoor environment and another lovely way to encourage sensory exploration, creativity, coordination and self-expression.

We can’t wait to see and hear all the wonderful music our little musicians create!✨

Yesterday, our preschoolers had a wonderful time enjoying their outdoor learning session with Jade.

They took part in lots of fun, hands-on activities in the garden, from leaf matching and building with sticks to getting creative and making their very own hedgehogs using colourful leaves.

It was lovely to see the children exploring nature, using their imaginations and developing their skills through play and discovery. What a fantastic outdoor learning experience!

Recently our toddlers embarked on an exciting adventure to Hatch Pond for an outdoor learning session.

The children enjoyed exploring the outdoors environment having snack, spotting the ducks, and collecting a variety of leaves along the way. We spoke about the different colours, shapes and textures of the leaves as we explored our surroundings.

We collected some of the leaves to bring back into the setting, where we can extend the children’s learning through a range of creative craft activities.

To celebrate International Day of Sign Languages, the preschool room went on an exciting sign language hunt.

The children used their fine motor skills to carefully search through the pasta to find hidden signs. Once they found a sign, they took turns practising and copying each one.

It was a fun and engaging activity that encouraged the children to develop their communication skills while learning that there are different ways we can communicate with one another.

To celebrate International Day of Peace, the toddler room came together to create a beautiful Friendship Tree.

The children enjoyed working together, sharing ideas and decorating the tree with colourful handprints to represent friendship, kindness and togetherness. It was a lovely opportunity to talk about being kind to our friends and how we can help everyone feel happy and included.

💛 Inclusion Week at The Old School House! 💛
This week at The Old School House, we have been celebrating Inclusion Week with a variety of fun and meaningful activities! 🥰

Throughout the week, the children have been exploring what makes each of us unique and special, while learning about the importance of being kind, accepting and respectful towards others. 🌍🤝

Through our activities, stories, discussions and creative experiences, we have encouraged the children to celebrate our differences, understand that everyone is special in their own way, and learn that everyone belongs. ✨

It has been a wonderful week filled with learning, creativity, kindness and lots of opportunities to celebrate being ourselves and including others. 💕
