🧖🧘Wellbeing week 🧖🧘‍♀️

This week we have been focusing on the wellbeing of the children / staff and those around us. We incorporated activities such as care giving for babies, a pamper spa retreat, listening to relaxing music, healthy movers and yoga sessions and exploring fun and exciting tuff trays relating to what it takes to make a good friend tuff and relaxing walks surround by nature.

Wellbeing plays a vital role in children’s development and helps provide valuable opportunities to express themselves and develop self awareness. When our children feel happy, safe and supported they are more than likely to engage positively and have mutual respect for those around them.

Our beautiful purpose built nursery provides a tranquil baby room, a nurturing 2 year old toddler room and a stimulating pre school room with 2 outdoor spaces on site with many learning walk opportunities near by including the beach, woodland nature area, Upton country park and lots more!

To ensure the children were kept cool this week we explored lots of water play, splashing around in the pool and sand tuff trays.

Playing with water introduces early concepts of volume, capacity, and weight as they fill and empty containers whilst getting the grown ups wet too during a water fight!
With constant adult supervision children were able to play freely within the pool, take turns and grasp a concept of keeping safe by using words such as ‘slippery ‘ and ‘wet’.
What a fun filled week we have had in the sunshine, we can’t wait to do it all over again when the sun decides to make a return!

Our pre school room have been focusing on different ways we can communicate with one another.
We have been incorporating lots more of Makaton / sign language to help bridge the gap between a child's understanding and their ability to speak. It empowers children of all ages and especially those that need some extra support to express their needs, reduces frustration, and accelerates overall communication and vocabulary development.
We are excited to show you all how much progress our muddy booters make over the next coming months.

On today’s learning walk we decided to venture to our local fire station to correlate with this week’s learning topic all about transport 🚗🚚✈️

Muddy Boots are very lucky to be located in such a community based area where we are able to share these experiences with our children and extend their learning.
Unfortunately Hamworthy Fire station are one of the 8 local stations that are proposed for closure which would mean longer response times, increased risk of safety and a huge impact on rural areas.
The local fire station are appealing for the community to fill in the survey and help try and save it!

We were very lucky on our visit today to be invited to look at the fire truck, take turns spraying the hose and finding out some interesting facts about what they do! A huge Thankyou to the Hamworthy fire team for this brilliant experience 🚒

Every year our muddy booters love learning all about the life cycle of a butterfly with their very own butterfly garden🦋

They began the 4 stage process and learnt all about metamorphosis and how the egg forms and hibernates into Caterpillar form to which the caterpillar sheds its skin one last time to reveal a hard shell called a chrysalis. During this stage is when the butterfly forms within the cacoon and ends its life cycle as a beautiful adult butterfly.
The children spoke amongst a group all about different life cycles and how it is important to observe, be patient and learn about the natural world.
It was a brilliant opportunity to then let them free and watch the life cycle start again.

This week the children have been exploring different sounds and music🎵 🎼🎤🎸

Whilst on our learning walk the children worked as a team and encouraged one another to be confident whilst using the different instruments. We listened to different sounds on our walks and the children were able to recognise some significant ones such as waves crashing, how the wind sounds, trees rustling.
They also created instruments from household items, sung nursery rhymes and used physical movement to express themselves.

By experimenting with volume, pitch, and instruments, children improve communication, foster creativity, and develop emotional regulation. It also strengthens physical coordination and social skills.

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible Bank Nursery Staff to join our team at Muddy Boots Nursery School, Turlin Moor.

🕒 Hours:
Adhoc shifts between 8:00am – 6:00pm, with availability across the week.

This is a flexible, as-needed position perfect for individuals who enjoy variety and working in a supportive, outdoor-focused environment.
