Waking on a Monday morning used to be the worst…

Another week has begun

Already feeling exhausted

Starting on the back foot

Dragging yourself out of bed

Anxious about what the week will hold

Feeling like the weekend wasn’t long enough to unwind and catch up on sleep

Sore eyes

And if it had been a weekend of partying then additional hangxiety and exhaustion

But not anymore

Having a good routine for my sleep

Means I no longer feel this way

I don’t know how I survived for so long

Making small tweaks in my everyday routine

And I now look forward to a Monday morning

The great start to a new week

A gym session

A dog walk

And then off to work

This can be you too

Awareness of our mental health

Shouldn’t last for just a week

Because these things don’t just last for a week each year

They’re there all year round

Loneliness is the topic for the years awareness week

Something that resonates with me a lot

Being single, I could spend a weekend where I don’t see anyone I know

From the Friday lunchtime when I leave my part time job

through to the Monday when I’m back in the office

It’s funny because I have friends who are married and with children

Who tell me regularly that they’d love to have the alone time that I have

So I try to not take it for granted

But when the loneliness hits

I have processes in place to overcome the emotions

Journalling - reminding myself why I’m single

Gym - I’ll get my body moving and my brain benefits from this too

Dog walk - getting out for fresh air with a pup who makes me giggle at times too

Make contact - message a friend to see if they’re free, but prepare myself for them to say they already have plans

Because a fear of mine is rejection, so prepping is key

And all of this will help towards a good night sleep too

Because it helps keep the mind active and positive

And not allow any stress to creep in and keep us awake too

Because feeling tired and emotional doesn’t help

Next time you feel lonely

Think how you can break the cycle in your mind to feel better

I was a BITCH

I don’t mind admitting it

Because it’s true

If you’ve read my story (posted a couple of weeks ago)

You’ll know that my career and been a big part of my life

And I’ve always wanted to succeed in being bloody good at what I do

But that came at a cost to me

High stress levels

Poor routine

A lack of sleep

And with a lack of sleep

Came a personality consisting of

💤 exhaustion
💤 fatigue
💤 being snappy with people
💤 heightened emotions

The list is endless

Recently I have been reflecting on the old version of me

And I’m so glad I turned things around

I never felt my sleep could be fixed (along with my personality!)

But it can

And I’m no longer a bitch (well I don’t think I am anyway 😝😂)

Are you a bitch? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Accountability…

I love this word

It can make some people feel very awkward

Because it means they have to be honest with their check ins

Last year I set a goal with you guys to get back into shape

And it’s taken time but I have made progress

8kg down, cms going in the same direction but muscle mass is on the up 💪🏼

I think it’s been slow because I’ve been doing it alone

But recently once a month my friend comes to the gym to train with me 🏋🏽‍♀️

I really look forward to our session

Because she really pushes me to go harder/heavier

We have a great afternoon of lifting weights, a swim, whirlpool bath, steam room and a cheeky beer after 🤫

So with being a bridesmaid in less than 6 weeks

I have just upped my accountability game

I have signed up to a new PT/coach

Someone who doesn’t know me and will kick my arse

Someone who I can call on when s**t gets tough

Someone who has been through it so knows the answers

Someone who answers any queries that I might have

Someone who is pushing me forward to help me achieve my goals

And I’m enjoying the ride

Overwhelm…

An emotion I’ve felt lot during my lifetime

Probably more so in the last year starting out as a coach

It would keep me awake at night

It’s a hard slog starting out on a different path

But just know that you need to some priorities

Spend some time making a list

And work out what are the more important things that need to get done

Break the list down to smaller items

So it’s more satisfying when you get more things ticked off

Also making a list each night a few hours before you go to sleep will help with your sleep 💤
