This week our Pre School children have been learning about using their senses to explore natural materials. Earlier in the week children went for a walk to look for and collect things that are found in our natural environments. As we found things we talked about what they looked like and felt like. We have also made some herb playdough and talked about what it smelt like as we squashed and squeezed the dough.

This week Leopards have really enjoyed looking at planting seeds and flowers. On Tuesday everyone planted their own sunflower seed in some soil and on Thursday we all enjoyed planting flowers in some flower pots for the garden. Through the week at circle times we talked about what flowers need to help them grow, soil, water, sun and how we look after them. These activities also tie into our sustainability planning.

Last week Leopards enjoyed making biscuits for Mothers day. We were learning how to weigh our ingredients on at a time, then adding them all together to make a dough. When the dough was ready they all took turns to cut out there own shape biscuit choosing from the butterfly, flower or the heart. Once they were cooked and cooled we decorated them with icing using our fine motor skills to squeeze the icing out.

The children in Leopards room went shopping to the local Coop to collect the ingredience we need to make our Mothers Day cookies.
We looked around the shop, collect them in our basket and then packed them and paid. We had a great time searching in the shop.
