🎷 What are you doing tonight?🎷

The Lipson Big Band are taking to the Old Chapel stage this evening for their annual performance - and it's completely free to come along!

Up to 30 young musicians from Lipson Co-operative Academy and schools across the region, tutored by professionals and led by former Royal Marines Bandmaster Gav Martin. These are seriously talented young people playing a brilliant mix of swing, funk, and soul, with vocalist Sara Holc joining them on stage.

No tickets needed, just turn up and enjoy. A bucket will be passed round for donations to the band and to Calstock Arts, so bring a little loose change if you can.

We welcome back to the Priory the amazing Wurlitza with their awe inspiring soundtracks to silent films, this time with a special one-off performance raising funds for Livewire Youth Music

🎞️ Saturday 9th May, 6.30pm
🎟️ This will be a ‘Pay As You Feel’ event and all donations will go towards supporting Livewire Youth Music Project in Saltash

Amongst the short films screened will be two which Wurlitza first debuted at Glastonbury Festival.
📽️ ‘Chess Fever’ is a heart warming tale of obsession, love and kittens
📽️ ‘The Cameraman's Revenge’ is a wonderfully whimsical movie about insect infidelity that includes, among other delights, a dancing frog, an amorous dragonfly and a grasshopper cameraman

Expect the unexpected! Wurlitza's live-music soundtracks feature music that is both familiar and unfamiliar; from Debussy and Django Reinhardt to the Ramones, The Doors and Joe Jackson, as well as some of their own original compositions.

This is a truly unique and memorable experience, and great for all ages!

Sidmouth International Jazz & Blues Festival is back this May – and alongside the main festival comes its much loved FREE Education Programme, running from Saturday 23 to Monday 25 May 2026 at Sidmouth Methodist Church, supported by Devon Music Education Hub.

Designed for all ages and abilities, this vibrant programme offers an incredible opportunity for children, young people, families and musicians of all levels to get involved, build skills and experience the joy of making music together – completely free of charge.
