We often point families in the direction of the "SEND Local Offer What's On" page (see below).

However, we have recently found that some of the groups that are advertised are no longer running. Please comment below (or send us a private message) if you have found this to be the case. We want to ensure we give you as much accurate information as we can, and find out from families about gaps in availability.

The recent Ofsted report reflects a school that is not yet where it needs to be, and the Trust understands the impact this has on pupils, families and the wider community.

This is a deeply disappointing outcome, and it is fully accepted. Improvements are already in progress, with a clear focus on creating a safe, supportive and consistent experience for every pupil, every day. The priority remains simple: getting this right for every child through real, lasting change.

Thank you to staff, families and the community for your continued support

When a child hits, it can feel shocking, frustrating, and sometimes even personal. But hitting isn’t about a “bad” child — it’s a sign of an overwhelmed brain that hasn’t yet learned how to cope. Behind the behaviour is a child who needs support, guidance, and skills they don’t yet have.

In the Supporting the Child Who Hits Toolkit, I’ll walk you through why children hit, what’s really happening in their nervous system, and how to respond in a way that actually teaches, rather than just stops the behaviour in the moment.

Because when we understand the “why,” we can respond in ways that build safer, calmer, more connected children.
If you’re feeling stuck, reactive, or unsure what to do next — this is for you.

The 'manosphere' is an umbrella term that refers to communities of boys and men online. While some areas might offer advice on fitness and finance, several others promote ideas that can harm young men's views of the world and treatment of women.

Algorithms often push these communities and content to boys who are looking for a sense of belonging, or who are struggling with their mental health or feelings of loneliness.

Supporting boys helps to support girls.

Learn more about the manosphere, its communities and the risks to boys, along with how you can counter these ideas: https://www.internetmatters.org/hub/news-blogs/what-is-the-manosphere-and-why-is-it-a-concern/

On behalf of the University of Exeter, we are sharing an invitation to parents of children with a special educational need or disability who go to special schools to take part in an international study of parent views in the UK, China and Japan.

You are invited to take part in this study if you have a child at a special school who has been there for more than one year.

The study is about your reasons for choosing a special school, what other alternatives you considered and whether it was your own choice. It is also about what values informed special school selection and how your choices were facilitated. It is part of a comparative study of parental views and experiences across three countries.

This research is being done by a team of researchers from China, Japan and England, with the team based around the WIDER Research Centre at the University of Exeter, UK. It has been approved by the University HASS Research Ethics Committee.

We consider that you may be interested in the survey as a way of thinking about your experiences of your child’s special schooling. You will also have an opportunity to receive a summary of the results of the study in England, China and Japan.
