🎣 Seafish Basic Health and Safety Course – designed for new entrants who want to operate safely and confidently at sea.
The Seafish Basic Health and Safety course aims to provide new entrants to the commercial fishing industry with the knowledge and skills required to work safely onboard a commercial fishing vessel. The course includes an understanding of the language used in the industry, individual roles and responsibilities, the dangers of the job and which skills are required to operate safely on board.

CLASS 3 - Deck Officer - Fishing - UPDATE
The Class 3 - Deck Officer Fishing - CoC course, NOW starts on 27th October 2025 and last five weeks until 28th November 2025 and includes a radar course..
The dates for the course have changed to allow students to organise funding.
Course costs £5400
£1000 Funding is available through Seafish to put towards the course fee (for eligible fishermen) You must apply and be approved for this before the course starts.

This CoC allows you to act as Mate, as required on fishing vessels Over 24m and Under 30m and is also useful if you act as a watchkeeper on fishing vessels over 16.5m.

The Class 3 - Deck Officer Fishing - CoC course, starts on 6th October 2025 and last four weeks until 31st October 2025.

This CoC allows you to act as Mate, as required on fishing vessels Over 24m and Under 30m and is also useful if you act as a watchkeeper on fishing vessels over 16.5m.
