What a fantastic day! 🎨✨

Today I had the pleasure of running Gelli Printing workshops for my son's year group, and it was so much fun! The children threw themselves into the process, creating unique prints and discovering just how much creativity can happen with a few simple materials...it was wonderful to see them letting go of perfection and enjoying the process! 🤩

It was also really special to see my son in his school environment, surrounded by his friends. Moments like that are priceless ❤️

And, because my daughter has been feeling a little emotional about mummy teaching her brother and not her, I managed to pop across at lunchtime for a big hug and a chat with her and her friends. Safe to say that made both of our days! 🥰

Days like today remind me how lucky I am to share creativity with children while also getting little glimpses into my own children's school lives. And did I take any photos myself? No. Am I ok about that? Yes, because I was enjoying myself too much to even think about it ♥️

On another note...I have no idea what the jazz hands were about

Oops. This is what I get for trying to be a little creative during a reel 🤣🤦😆

‼️Drumroll please...I have some exciting news‼️

The Arts Award is coming to Stitch & Splodge on a SATURDAY once a month after the summer holidays...yes, you heard that right! 🥳🎨

I'm so excited to be bringing this fantastic opportunity to even more young people, giving them the chance to explore, discover new art forms, and achieve a nationally recognised Arts Award along the way.

There are still a few details to finalise, but I couldn't wait to share the news with you! Watch this space for more information coming soon 🤩

While I was trying my best to ignore my phone over the weekend, the news broke that one of England's greatest artistic legends, David Hockney, had died aged 88. 💔

Wow.

I've always loved Hockney's work. His incredible use of colour, pattern and perspective has inspired me not only in my own artwork, but also in the art created by so many of my students back when I was teaching. I've genuinely lost track of the number of times we studied his work for projects, or the number of GCSE students I've pointed in his direction for inspiration. 🥹

There's something about Hockney's art that feels joyful, playful and full of life. The world without Hockney feels like a much sadder place, but what an extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.

His art will continue to inspire generations of artists, teachers and young creatives for many years to come ♥️🎨
