Moons class are learning all about animal skulls in their workshop this morning!

This week in the Apples Class, the children enjoyed the popular Julia Donaldson story The Smeds and the Smoos. The characters in this story really helped the children begin to think about similarities and differences. They recognised that, although we are all different in a variety of ways, we can still be kind and friendly to each other. The children continued to think about this when listening to the book Let's Make Faces. They then had so much fun using mirrors to look at their own faces and pull different expressions, such as, goofy, sad and happy. Finally the children used lots of loose parts to make faces!

Yesterday in our science lesson, Year 6 investigated how we all perceive colour differently. An image was shown on the screen, which we looked at for 10 seconds, then when the image was taken away, we could all still see the image briefly but in a different colour.

A reminder that tomorrow, Friday 25th September, we are inviting our children to come to school in their own clothes for a special non-uniform day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research charity. For a minimum £1 donation, the children will also be able to enjoy a sweet treat, provided by the school, at breaktime.

We will also be holding an extended 2 hour Macmillan coffee morning in our Family Hub tomorrow, for parents, carers and our school staff members to pop in for a coffee and a slice of cake in exchange for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Relief. This event will run from 9.00am until 11.00am so please join us if you can. Donations of cakes, traybakes, biscuits or other sweet treats would be gratefully received.

Please remember we are an allergy aware school and have a number of staff and children with food allergies including severe nut allergies. Please could we ask that any homemade donations are clearly labelled with the ingredients they contain or are pre-packaged with the ingredients list clearly visible. Please avoid baking with nuts, if possible.

We are certain that many of us have been touched by cancer in our lifetimes and therefore I hope as many of our school community as possible will support us, as we raise money for an incredible cause.

We have had a busy week in Squirrels class! On Tuesday we carried out an investigation to see if minibeasts have a favourite colour. The result was that they like yellow best. On Wednesday we have been learning about algorithms. We brushed our teeth and then created an algorithm for brushing our teeth.
