I have a passion for learning and teaching mixed martial arts with nearly a decade of studying. covering fights, tips, progression and follow along workouts.
I now want to help share my knowledge with video footage from the classes and PT's that I lead.
New toy at Peterborough Boxing & Fitness Academy we have a cable machine
Set the seat bar
Set the weight
Lat pull down
Lat push down
Row (overhand and underhand grip)
Tricep extension (front and behind)
Bicep extension
You can even use the cable for single arm excerises
Abdominal curl
Keep everything controlled with proper form
Lets say you do 10 reps for 3 sets, if you finish 10 reps on the last set the weight needs to be a little heavier for you to push your muscles to failure.
Whatever your rep range is this is used as a guide that i should fail on my last set i shouldn't be able to complete all 10 reps.

What is a good training partner?
Someone who can control themselves
Why do we need good training partners?
So we can get better
When training with someone we need control and a bond between us, this is where we can drill stuff but using a live target which means youre putting your body on the line for your partner.
Testing out new tricks and combos or slowing things down and thinking what to do i a certain situation.
You can see me and Yanis sparring and everytime we got caught with a shot that would hurt we almost give up to let the other finish the combo.
We have elbows to the head and knees to the back at full fight force this would hurt but when were learning we slow down and control the tempo. We was freestyle sparring which means anyone can throw. We are also practicing our timing and shot placement with sweeps in motion still.
Practice what you preach even if you're better than your partner still hold yourself like you would in a real fight if not this will cause bad habits for yourself like dropping hands. Remember when we're drilling we need to drill properly if not our bodies will go into autopilot.

Good technical sparring rounds last night for our up coming fighter phoenix, thank you yanis for jumping in and thank you dan for trusting us on some boxing sparring even though you was nervous about the difference in abilities.
Control your power and think smart, that way you won't come out of sparring with headaches.

Fun drill last night with the teens at Peterborough Boxing & Fitness Academy
Action vs reaction
With an attackers hand high and a defenders hand closer to the ball you think you'll beat the attacker to the ball but this isn't the case.
Recently I'm really pushing the teens to recognise that they're in full control of themselves and everything they do.
I have shown you how to attack and defend and when sparring gets here its all on you when that clock is on. You have your parents and coaches around the ring watching but you're the one who's mid spar and if you start getting punched up you're the one that needs to solve getting out of it.
Defence starts with eyes 👀
Then your feet 👣
Then your hands 🥊
I will carry on pushing you to show confidence even when you get hurt in sparring you still need to work around it and not give in. If the clocks on we're working if we are hurt or not.
Team work makes the dream work boys and girls and you're working well so keep up the good work 😁
