Interim conclusion after 3 weeks: What is going well in the sunflower test – and what isn't? 🌻
Quick recap of the experimental setup:
👉️ 4 plots: ploughing, deep (20 cm) tillage, shallow tillage (10 cm) & direct seeding
👉️ Fertilisation: underground fertilisation with urea (45 to 75 kg/ha) or contact fertilisation while sowing with UAN (40 to 60 l/ha)
After 3 weeks, differences in emergence can be observed:
▶️ Visually, the best impression is with the cultivated variants using urea as starter fertiliser.
▶️ With the variants using 50 l/ha UAN, we are seeing problems with emergence. We suspect burns.
👉️ Learning: In future tests with liquid fertiliser, we will pay attention to low application rates or a greater distance to the seed row (> 2 cm).
▶️ The direct seeding variants are slightly behind in development compared to the variants with prior soil cultivation.
Of course, we will continue to monitor the development of the crops and keep you updated here!
What strategy are you using for sunflowers this year?

HORSCH Leeb AX: The compact & manoeuverable trailed sprayer
Despite its compact dimensions (4 000 l tank & 18-30 m working width), the Leeb AX can impress with several features:
▶️ Standard precision: The active boom control system BoomControl ensures minimal drift and a constant target area distance.
▶️ Flexibility with regard to the tractor: Due to LoadSensing, PTO drive, and independent hydraulic system
👉️ Optional: Continuous inside cleaning ProfiClean & pneumatic nozzle and section control
👀 Our conclusion: Compact, user-friendly, and uncompromisingly precise probably best describes our Leeb AX!

HORSCH Leeb CS: Compact & agile
The Leeb CS, with a working width of 15–30 m, is the optimal mounted sprayer for small-structured regions where frequent manoeuvering and turning are required.
With options for partial folding, section control, and optional 25cm nozzle spacing, the most important technologies of the "big brothers" are combined in the compact mounted sprayer. 🤝

HORSCH Practical Check: Sunflowers🌻
To find out how we can achieve the optimum for the plants, we are continuously testing new approaches here at Sitzenhof. Two weeks ago, we sowed sunflowers.
The test setup in detail 👀
4 plots:
1️⃣ Plough
2️⃣ Deep tillage (20 cm)
3️⃣ Shallow tillage (10 cm)
4️⃣ Direct seeding
Either an underground fertilisation with urea (45 to 75 kg/ha) or a contact fertilisation during seeding with UAN (40 to 60 l/ha) was carried out.
Work was done with a Leeb 1.4 CT and the Maestro 6 TV.
Interim result after 14 days:
Differences are already visible: The variant with urea emerged much more evenly.

Insights from our rapeseed test 👀
We have set up a test with different rapeseed varieties at various row widths from 45 cm to 1 m.
The photos show the crop shortly before flowering: Different stages of row closure can be observed.
This brings us to an interesting practical discussion: What experiences have you had with conventional seeding and precision seeding in rapeseed?
Write it in the comments. 👇️
