Play dough is great for so many skills! From building hand muscles just by squeezing, to using tools to mark make and safely practising scissor skills- not to mention the amount of language and imagination play opportunities!
This is guaranteed to keep the little ones occupied for copious amounts of time.

This evening we have each made our own coloured/scented playdough. The older ones then facilitated dividing it up and sharing with others to get a mix of colours. Only the youngest has mixed the colours into one big smoosh π€π€ if you know, you know!

Today our after-school children are following step by step instructions on how to draw different pictures. I, too, impressed myself with my drawings π€£

You know it's a great activity if it can appeal to many different ages with a whole variety of learning. Something as simple as oats and containers not only provides sensory exploration,- you can see mark making, fine motor development, language development and even social sharing skills (to name a few)
As long as you don't mind a little mess of course π€£ we are trying hard to keep it in the blanket!

We love autumn! Today we found conkers (we had to look hard as there wasn't many!) we spoke about the shell using descriptive words "that spiky thing" was my fave! And how that protects them from being eaten as they aren't food!
We enjoyed singing the autumn song as we walked around in the crunchy leaves.

It's been a busy summer- personally and at Laura's Little Learners. Apologies it's been so quiet in this space! Here's a little link to the playdough we always make! But we don't cook, we chuck it all in and add boiled water. Mostly done by the children, just adult support with adding the hot water! Always encourage children to wash hands after touching playdough.

We are never in a rush for anything and this is why! Free entertainment- the children wanted to see the car being put on the flatbed so there we stood for 15 minutes.

Not going to lie, I'm tempted to join them! We are tackling the heat by filling a tuff tray with water and just see what they chose to do- was there really any other option? π€£
