RECORD BREAKING: 2016 was a year of successes for OBA sixth form. Sophie and George, our previous head girl and boy, both successfully applied to the University of Cambridge. George is now reading economics at St Catherine’s college and Sophie will start reading English at Magdalene College in October 2017.
The success of our Oxbridge students was not the only celebration. When compared to the national average and previous cohorts, our students excelled in both applications to Russell Group institutions and wider universities. This is a testament to the hard work of the students, their teachers and the personalised support provided to them by the sixth form team.
Come to our open evening tomorrow (Oct 18th) and find out more about the bespoke advice and guidance made available through our 'high flyers' programme.

The BTEC pathway is a purely vocational route, which allows you to study a combination of BTEC subjects or a triple award BTEC. For example, if you are passionate about pursuing a career in performing arts you can dedicate your study programme to completing the national diploma in performing arts alongside a certificate in creative digital media production - this is the equivalent of three A Level subjects. This pathway will provide you with a professional vocational experience that will enable you to progress in to employment, apprenticeships or university. Most students who follow this pathway continue to pursue their chosen vocation at university or through an apprenticeship.

The blended pathway provides you with real variety as you can choose to combine A Level qualifications with BTECs. For example, you may select to study a double award BTEC subject, like creative media, alongside an A Level in English. Alternatively, you could complete a single award BTEC, such as health and social care, alongside A-levels such as sociology and psychology. This pathway provides you with a balance of academic rigour and vocational experiences that will enable you to progress on to further training, university or employment.

Our A-level pathway is the most common route, where you have the freedom to choose to study three or four subjects. This pathway will provide you with the academic rigour required to apply to the countries best universities.
