What a fabulous new tradition and a memory the children will take with them forever 🔔
Tomorrow, we begin a wonderful new tradition at Wittering Primary School.
Following the donation of our beautiful bell during our 150th Year Celebration, each of our Year 6 children will have the honour of ringing the bell as they leave primary school on their final day with us.
This special moment will mark the end of their primary journey and celebrate all they have achieved during their time at Wittering.
The bell bears the inscription:
"Kindly donated on the 150 Year Celebration of Wittering Primary School"
We look forward to seeing our Year 6 pupils become the first to take part in what we hope will be a cherished tradition for many years to come.

This Volunteers’ Week, we are celebrating the people who give their time, experience and perspective to support our schools.
Gunthorpe Primary School our Local Governing Committee includes volunteers from a range of backgrounds.
June Garth is a retired teacher, tutor and grandparent, and is the Link Governor for SEND. She brings a deep understanding of education and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children.
June says:
“Volunteering as a school governor is deeply rewarding. Supporting adults in their roles and working together to improve children’s life opportunities is a real privilege.”
Emma Vickers is Vice Chair of Governors at Gunthorpe. She is also a member of a primary school senior leadership team and has two young children of her own. Emma shows how governors can bring different perspectives to the role, combining professional experience, parental insight and a commitment to helping children thrive.
Emma says:
“Being a governor gives me the chance to use my experience in education in a different way. It is a privilege to support and challenge the school, and to help make a positive difference for children and families.”
You do not need to be an education expert to become a governor. What matters is that you care about children, your local community, and helping schools be the best they can be.
Governors help schools by asking thoughtful questions, offering support and challenge, and bringing different life and work experiences to the table.
We are currently looking for new governors to join Local Governing Committees across Soke Education Trust, including at Gunthorpe Primary School.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a governor, visit: www.sokeeducationtrust.co.uk
Thank you to June, Emma and all our governors across Soke Education Trust for everything you do.

If you are looking for a small school that achieves big things, contact the school to find out about the last few spaces available.
We are super proud of our 'strong' report following our recent Ofsted Inspection! 💚

We are still on the hunt for some extra resources - can we take old tyres off your hands and recycle them for a great purpose?
We’ve now had a chance to sort through all of your OPAL donations - thank you so much! Your generosity has been incredible. These loose parts are essential for sustaining high‑quality play opportunities for our children. As time goes on, we will need to replenish resources, so please do keep us in mind during any house or garden clear‑outs.
You may have spotted our new Donation Station on the KS2 playground. Any future donations can now be placed directly in there.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be opening up even more play areas for the children. They will also begin mixing across year groups and accessing a wider range of spaces across the school site. This development will continue over the next 18 months, and as new areas open, we’ll share specific items that the community may be able to help us source.
At the moment, we are particularly in need of:
* Picnic blankets
* Teddy bears
* Teddy bear picnic items such as a plastic tea set/plates
* Large storage boxes
* A water butt for developing a water play area
If you have any of these items - or know where we might be able to source them - we would love to hear from you.
We also have a much‑loved tyre play area, which the children absolutely adore. To keep this going, we need many more tyres. Car tyres and bicycle tyres are brilliant, and tractor tyres make fantastic social spaces and sand play areas. If you are able to help us source tyres of any kind, please let us know.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Mrs Watson and Miss Graham
