A very interesting report about speeding on Cambridgeshire roads, from the BBC this morning - well worth a read.

Three interesting facts that are highlighted:

😔2 out of 10 people are killed when hit by a vehicle travelling at 30mph.
😡8 out of 10 people are killed when hit by a vehicle travelling at 35 mph.
☠️Being hit by a vehicle travelling at 37 mph is the equivalent of falling out of a five storey building.

Think about those three facts for just a moment.

Driver clocked doing 154mph at A14 Fenstanton speeding hotspot Data obtained from Cambridgeshire Police's cameras reveals the county's speeding hotspots.

From 12th May the DVSA have changed the rules for who can book a test, how to swap a test, how many times you can change your test and where you can take your test.

This has been introduced to help reduce waiting times and hopefully enable learners to get tests when they are ready.

We’re putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings 🚘

If you’ve got a booking or you’ll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates 📅

31 March 2026 – only 2 changes can be made to a booking

12 May 2026 – only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes

9 June 2026 – learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres

By changing who can book car and change driving tests, we’re aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners 💪
