Just back from 5 lovely days in Greece and honestly had the best time.š¬š·
I came home 2.5kg heavier than when I left, which I was fully expecting after 5 days of eating out, drinking more than I normally would and no gym sessions.
I did still get my steps in and I did make some better choices when I could. Greek yoghurt and fruit, salads etc. But equally, after a couple of drinks when youāre out for dinner, Iām probably going to chose something a bit greasier š
And Iām definitely not saying no to a strawberry daiquiri anyway.
And thatās completely fine.
The 2.5kg on the scales isnāt 2.5kg of fat. There will obviously be some fat gain from eating and drinking more than I normally would, but a lot of that weight will also be water, glycogen, food volume, sodium etc.
So whatās my plan now?
For the next 4 weeks Iāll go into a deficit to tidy things back up and get myself back around where I was before I went away.
After that, Iāll go into a gaining phase for the rest of the year, before starting a 19 week prep in January for another photoshoot in May.
And I think this is something thatās really important to remember.
You should be able to go on holiday, enjoy yourself, eat the food, have the drinks, not train for 5 days and come home a bit heavier without feeling like youāve ruined all your progress.
Itās what you do afterwards that matters.
You get back into your normal routine, carry on with your steps, get your training back in, get your nutrition back on track and keep moving towards the bigger goal.
This is exactly what I do with my clients too. Your plan needs to fit around your life, not the other way around.š©·
