Full Immersion — Part 2
Since I shared yesterday, my musings have continued.
How can we be fully powerful if we will not allow ourselves to be fully immersed?
We cannot. We become scattered. Diluted. Half present in everything and truly present in nothing.
I know why we hold back. Because somewhere along the way, being fully in something meant being fully hurt by it. Full immersion meant full exposure. And full exposure, for many of us, meant loss. Disappointment. Humiliation. The devastating gap between how much we gave and how little was returned.
So we learned to ration ourselves. To keep something back. An exit. A reserve. A part of us that never quite lands, never quite commits, never quite lets the experience touch the deepest parts of who we are.
It felt like protection. And for a time, it was.
But there comes a time where the price we pay is our own aliveness. Where the very strategy that kept us safe begins to keep us small. Where holding back stops being wisdom and starts being the thing that is quietly, slowly, suffocating us.
For me, living at the edges is no longer even a choice.
It feels like death.
It feels like suffocating.
It feels anti-life — and I am a woman who has fought too hard, loved too deeply and journeyed too far to spend one more day standing in the shallows of her own existence.
Menopause has a way of making that very clear. The old strategies stop working. The old armour stops fitting. And what is left is a woman who must finally decide — will she wade in, or will she dive.
I am diving.
What would full immersion cost you? And what is holding back already costing you?
