•CONFIDENCE•
“I’m not very good at this” “I can’t do it” “we did this at school but I didn’t get it”
These are just a few of the quotes I hear from my students when they first start tuition and it shocks me every time. What/who made them feel like they were not good at something? Who are they comparing themselves to? At what point did they accept they just couldn’t do it?
Parents/carers will tell me the different areas of learning their children need support with when they first start. When working 1 to 1 with these students, you realise that most of the time, it is confidence in their own abilities that prevents them from moving forward and progressing.
Games, activities, building positive relationships, questions, personalised lessons and targeted interventions are just some of the techniques I use to inspire my students. After a few sessions, you start to see something inside them change. Determination begins to grow. Enjoyment. Self Belief.
There is no greater feeling than when you hear a student finally say “I can do this”.
