Riviera Dance Studios offers the highest standard of teaching in all dance subjects including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Acrobatics, Commercial, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre. With studios in Paignton (at the rear of Littlegate Road, Paignton, Devon TQ3 3AY, Totnes (Chapel House Studios, Station Road, Totnes, Devon TQ9 5HW) and Dittisham Village Hall the team of experienced ex-professional

dancers strive to give every child from 2 years old and upwards, the guidance, support and confidence they need to realise their dreams in the world of dance. The accessibility of Paignton and Totnes reduces travel time and multiple studios keep classes small allowing better pupil teacher ratios. Classes are also duplicated but at different times of the week making more classes accessible to more children and accommodating hectic family life. A child’s confidence grows with their ability and the experience of the teaching staff is key when encouraging a reluctant child who can’t quite bring themselves to join in. The school caters for all abilities and where a child wishes to compete, a structured school year involves a spring term that focuses on festival practice in preparation for local and national competitions. Festivals are a small part of the overall activity of the school which teaches Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and British Ballet Organisation (BBO) curriculums and the end of the summer term sees the progress of the children being assessed by external examiners before the summer break. A summer school is another annual event where the school hosts external teachers from current West End shows or academic institutions. The summer school provides an opportunity for the children to enrich their knowledge and be taught by professional dancers. The winter term focuses on preparing the children for what has become the most enjoyable event of the school year – for the parents as well as the children; the annual show performed shortly before Christmas at the Princess Theatre, Torquay. The performances also show case their work and affords the school the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. It is a hugely popular event featuring a classical ballet (such as ‘Coppelia’ or ‘The Nutcracker’) followed by a tribute to a popular contemporary vocal artist or artists and features music that allows the children to show their modern ballet, tap, contemporary and commercial dance skills. Our first few days at the All England Dance Regional Finals ✨

Congratulations to all of our wonderful team of of senior dancers - what a huge achievement it is to be a regional finalist!

We had 5 amazing performances from our Senior Contemporary, Narrative, Jazz and Tap groups - all receiving great marks - what a versatile team! ‘A Quiet Place’ Senior Narrative Group was awarded 2nd runner up, narrowly missing out on a place in the finals by 0.1 of a mark - we were so proud of their conviction and commitment on stage!

Phoebe and Kyla both danced their Lyrical and Contemporary solos also receiving great marks and giving strong performances. Well done girls!

We’re so excited to welcome Miss Ellie to the team! 🩵✨

She’ll be joining us every Tuesday in Paignton, teaching Junior Musical Theatre and Inter Jazz Tech.

Here’s a little bit about Miss Ellie:

Ellie started her dance training at the age of 3 at Buckingham Dance Studios Paignton. Her passion for dance became quickly apparent and led her to train in a variety of styles including Ballet, Tap, Modern, Contemporary and Commercial. She competed in many dance competitions and was an All England Dance finalist.

Ellie has passed all of her Tap, Modern and Ballet exams up to Advanced 2, achieving Merit or Distinction in all of them.

In 2021, Ellie began training full time at Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts where she graduated in 2024 achieving a BA Honours Degree in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre. Here she took part in countless workshops with industry professionals, all who praised her technical ability. It is also here that she found a love for teaching, and is currently studying towards completing her DDE in Ballet. She is a member of The Lab company in London, and is still furthering her training and refining her skillset so she may continue to work in the industry.

Ellies’ credits include Bridget in Bring It On! 2024, Dance Captain MOVE IT MainStage with Thomas Ashton 2024, Jack in Mother Goose Pantomime 2024, Ellie will also be opening for CYD Liverpool Finals later in 2025.

Ellie wishes to provide an environment in which everyone feels safe and welcome. She believes dance is for all, and wishes to inspire the next generation of dancers to feel confident and empowered.
