To celebrate the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, the children at St Peter’s were thrilled to welcome the Nite Owls for a special visit this morning.

We had the chance to meet five beautiful owls, hold them, and watch them in flight. The children sat perfectly still and silent as the owls swooped gracefully from one side of the hall to the other — it was truly magical!

During the session, we discovered lots of fascinating facts about different owl species, including how they fly so silently, hunt, and catch their prey. One of the key messages we learned was the importance of not leaving litter behind, as it can seriously harm owls and other wildlife if swallowed. Always put rubbish in the bin — or better still, recycle whenever possible.

A huge thank you to the Nite Owls team for such a memorable visit, and happy 100th birthday to Sir David Attenborough - your passion inspires us all to keep learning and exploring the world around us!

There’s something truly magical about learning beyond the classroom walls — and nature offers the perfect space for children to explore, discover, and grow.

The recent warm, sunny days have allowed the children at St Peter’s to make the most of our beautiful rural setting, where learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our unique surroundings provide endless opportunities for hands-on experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Across every year group, pupils have enjoyed activities that bring their topics to life in meaningful ways. From planting seeds and observing their growth to learning about the life cycle of caterpillars before releasing newly hatched butterflies into the wild, children are fully immersed in their learning through real experiences.

Exploring habitats, observing seasonal changes, investigating minibeasts, or simply using the outdoors to inspire writing, art, and science, our pupils flourish in an environment where learning feels engaging, purposeful, and memorable.

At St Peter’s, we are proud to nurture not only academic success, but also creativity, wellbeing, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for God's natural world.

The children of St Peter’s Infant School looked resplendent today in their beautiful Easter finery.

After putting so much creativity and care into making their wonderful Easter bonnets, they proudly wore them to St Peter’s Church for this morning’s Easter Service. It was a joyful and heartwarming sight, full of colour, smiles, and celebration. Thank you for brightening our day everyone!

Wishing you all a peaceful and wonderful Easter.

St Peter's Pause Day : Easter

Yesterday, our school was transformed into a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and faith as every child took part in our immersive art project centred on "New Beginnings".

The children explored this powerful theme through a range of beautiful artistic experiences. Delicate cherry blossom trees symbolised the fleeting beauty and fresh start of spring, while Aboriginal-inspired artwork allowed pupils to experiment with storytelling through pattern and colour. Our African Kente designs brought bold colour and meaning, representing identity, growth, and renewal.

It was wonderful to see every child fully engaged—creating, exploring, and expressing themselves while learning about different cultures from around the world.

Importantly, the day also helped deepen our understanding of the Christian meaning of Easter. Through art, the children reflected on the message of hope, new life, and resurrection—recognising how spring mirrors this season of spiritual renewal.

A truly inspiring day filled with creativity, reflection, and joy. We are so proud of all our children for embracing new experiences and celebrating new beginnings together
