Thank you to all our amazing families who joined us at the HGSA End of Term Picnic yesterday! 🌞🧺

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout, and we were so impressed with the incredible effort made by our wonderful HGSA team and parent/grandparent volunteers who worked so hard to make the event such a success.

We’re so fortunate to be part of such a supportive and generous school community. Thanks to everyone's support, we raised a fantastic amount of money for our school, and most importantly, the children had an absolute blast! ❤️

As Year 2's time with us draws to a close, they celebrated their final Forest School session with a fun-filled Slip and Slide! They had the best time, laughing and smiling from start to finish.

A huge thank you to our fabulous Forest School Leader, Mrs Holliman, for making it such a memorable experience for them. What a brilliant way to end their Forest School journey with us! 💚💚💚

What a fantastic couple of days it has been for our children!

Yesterday, Reception travelled into London to visit the Unicorn Theatre, where they enjoyed a wonderful performance of The Lion Inside. Today, it was Year 1's turn to experience the show, and they had just as much fun!

As part of the adventure, children explored the local area, taking in the sights of the River Thames and the iconic HMS Belfast.

We are so proud of how brilliantly both Reception and Year 1 represented our school throughout their trips. What wonderful memories they have made!

Last week, we celebrated our second Arts Week. Despite the heat, the children (and staff!) threw themselves into every activity and had an amazing time.

Throughout the week, the children enjoyed a wide variety of creative experiences, including harp music, live rock music, carnival dancing, a junk percussion workshop, painting and sculpture, drama, puppetry, dance and much more. It was wonderful to see them trying new things, developing new skills and enjoying the arts in so many different ways.

A huge thank you to harpist Mark Levin, Mrs Gimblett, Amy from Mini Notes, Mrs Smith, Rocksteady, Hazelwood School, Dance Days, The Music Workshop and Oxted Band for sharing your time, talent and expertise! Thanks must also go to the brilliant Mrs Bruce for organising this fantastic event.

The children made some wonderful memories, and we're already looking forward to Arts Week next year. 🎨🎶🎭

Volunteers’ Week

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we would like to thank our volunteer readers for the time they give to support our children’s reading.

Their regular support helps pupils build confidence and develop their reading skills, and it is greatly appreciated by both staff and children.

Thank you for making such a positive contribution to our school community.

🕊️ Swift Walk 🌳

Yesterday, Mrs Bartlett and Mrs Hall led an after-school swift walk around Hurst Green, armed with maps and binoculars, on a mission to spot swifts! We carefully marked every sighting and then uploaded our data to Swift Mapper to help the RSPB track swift populations and distribution.

Swifts are truly remarkable birds—they spend almost their entire lives in the air and only visit the UK for a few months each year to nest before embarking on their incredible journey thousands of miles to Africa. 🌍✨

We all had a fantastic time and spotted over 30 swifts on the walk!

🎬 Careers Week in Action! 🚀

Children have had an incredible week exploring different careers! Today, TV Director Ellie, who has worked on Country File, Strictly Come Dancing, and Operation Ouch, gave the children a taste of life in television. They even got to try presenting and filming their own show—how cool is that? Ellie also surprised them with a personalised message from , which the children loved!

Earlier this week, we met Mark the Pilot and Adam, a McLaren Engineer and tomorrow children will find out all about the work of a rail engineer.

It’s been such an inspiring week, hopefully giving children ideas about the careers they might like to pursue in the future and showing how important it is to work hard at school

We absolutely LOVE our new outdoor classroom! It’s such a special space that will get lots of use and bring so much pleasure to both our children and staff.

Our Reception class enjoyed spending time there this morning during their story session, listening to the beautiful book The Heart and the Bottle by Oliver Jeffers.

This is a fantastic addition to our grounds, which already include a forest school area, orchard and wildlife pond — helping us make even more of our wonderful outdoor environment.

Huge thanks to Oxted Parish Council for helping to fund this exciting project, and to School Outdoor Learning for creating such a gorgeous space. We feel very lucky to have it!
