Summer is just around the corner and June marks the final month of our dancing meetings here in Oxford.

Join us as we celebrate the end of another epic year together—with great live music, refreshing drinks, plenty of dancing, and, most importantly, great company.

✨ A Polyphonic Journey Underground ✨

You are invited to an impromptu and unique evening at Fusion Arts. Join a polyphonic journey underground with the legendary Epirotic quartet from the black mountains of North-Western Greece, . Through their wild and ancient music surges a powerful magic: of the living world, lament, remembrance, and celebration. 🇬🇷🌿

The evening will open with short talks before moving into Kompania Verdi’s first ever performance in the UK, ahead of their appearance at the MOTH (More-Than-Human) Festival of Ideas in London a couple of days later.

For those that would like to dive deeper, Kompania Verdi will lead a polyphonic singing workshop between 6:30PM - 7.30PM. Please ensure you include the ‘Workshop Add-On’ in your registration to secure your place.

OGD would like to thank Kostas, Giorgios, and Grigoris for sharing their music and knowledge during our Sunday session. For three hours, the room was filled with the vibrant spirit of Cretan music and dance, turning the lesson into a truly meaningful experience for everyone.

We would also like to thank everyone who was there, including our 'ξενομπασάρηδες' friends from London.

We danced the Ksenobasaris (=the visitor from a foreign place, the foreigner)/Ξενομπασάρης (=ξενομπάτης, αυτός που έχει έρθει από ξένο τόπο), and we sang along:

March has been dedicated to exploring the rich dance traditions of Crete.

This Sunday, we wrap up an inspiring month with live music featuring lyra, lute, and guitar. Together, we’ll explore the Syrtos and the Prinianos, experiment with some dynamic figures of the Pentozali, sing mantinades, and dive deeper into movement, improvisation, and musical rhythms.

If you’re in Oxford and curious about the dances and motifs of Crete, we’d love to welcome you.

Ο Μάρτης βρήκε την ομάδα να μελετά χορούς από την Κρήτη.

Την Κυριακή κλείνουμε αυτόν τον πολύ δυνατό χορευτικά μήνα με ζωντανή μουσική, με Λύρα λαούτο και κιθάρα.
Συζητούμε για τον Συρτό, χορεύουμε Πρινιανό, κάνουμε προσπάθεια σε φιγούρες του πεντοζαλι, τραγουδάμε μαντινάδες και εμβαθύνουμε σε λεπτομέρειες σχετικά με την κίνηση, τον αυτοσχεδιασμό, τα μουσικά μέτρα.

Εάν βρίσκεσαι στον Οξφόρδη και σε ενδιαφέρουν οι χοροί και οι σκοποί από την Κρήτη, έλα να μας βρεις.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 3rd Vasilopita Party last Saturday and for continuing to support the group. Since then, we’ve spoken with many of you, and we all agree — the night was absolutely explosive! There’s nothing quite like bringing our community together: dancing with friends and family, making new connections, and reconnecting with people we haven’t seen in a while. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.
A huge thank you to Tap Social Movement for hosting us once again and being such fantastic hosts for the second time.
We are incredibly grateful to our musicians — the night simply wouldn’t have been as epic without you. Παραδοσιακό Σχήμα Ήδωνες, thank you for making this evening so special for our Oxford community. It was an honour to have you with us, and we hope to welcome you again in the future.
