🌍 We’re proud to share an exciting step forward in global healthcare innovation.

EIT has entered into a strategic collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, bringing together our technology-driven, interdisciplinary approach with our partner's world-leading expertise in clinical care and life sciences research. Lisa Flashner (COO, EIT), Prof Rob Lorenz (Cleveland Senior Executive Advisor to EIT) and Dr Serpil Erzurum (Executive Vice President & Chief Research and Academic Officer, CC) formalised the partnership during an official signing at EIT's London office.

Together, we aim to:

- Accelerate scientific discovery and innovation
- Push the boundaries of clinical care through innovative diagnostics and treatments
- Support education and workforce development for the next generation of healthcare leaders

As part of this collaboration, Cleveland Clinic London will operate a state-of-the-art clinical facility on the EIT Oxford campus, creating a unique environment where clinicians, researchers and innovators can work side by side to advance healthcare delivery. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to care for life, research for health, and education for those who serve, to shape the future of healthcare globally.

🧬 Congratulations to Professor Jason Chin, Executive Director of the Generative Biology Institute (GBI) at EIT, on being selected for the 2026 Heinrich Wieland Prize, which he will receive in November.

The prestigious international prize from Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung recognises outstanding research on biologically active molecules and systems. Jason will be honoured for pioneering work – Rewriting the Code of Life - that has fundamentally expanded what living cells can create, engineering them to produce unnatural proteins and polymers with properties not found in nature.

Christoph Boehringer, Chair of the Executive Committee of the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung, adds: "What began as the bold question if the rules of life can be rewritten has become a platform for creating chemical reactions and molecules that nature never imagined. This is exactly the kind of foundational research the Heinrich Wieland Prize exists to celebrate."

Reflecting on his work, Jason said: "Synthetic biology often asks what we can borrow from nature. We are asking something different: what can we build if the only limits are physical laws and our imagination?"

Following a global search for talent and highly competitive selection process, we're proud to announce the 2026 cohort of incoming undergraduate Ellison Scholars!🎉

The second undergraduate cohort includes 20 exceptional students from 15 countries worldwide, who will receive full funding to study at the University of OxfordUniversity of Oxford. Each incoming Ellison Scholar has received an offer to study through the University’s independent admissions process, and subject to meeting the conditions of their offers, will begin their studies in October 2026. 👏

This year’s undergraduate Ellison Scholars bring an extraordinary breadth of achievements and impact, from international Olympiad medals to award‑winning research, community leadership, and innovative projects addressing global challenges across health, food security, climate and AI.

EIT Tops Out! 🎉

Yesterday, we celebrated reaching the highest point of construction on our new EIT Oxford campus, with a topping out ceremony at Littlemore House.

Together with Foster + Partners, Ridge, and Laing O'Rourke, we gathered to admire the traditional crane pass of a fir tree high in the sky. This is a symbol of growth and continuity, marking the inspiring moment the structure is complete and the focus shifts to bringing the building to life. 🏗️ 🌲

Our new campus is rising as a launchpad for ideas, innovation and collaboration. Due to complete in 2027, it will support science at scale: autonomous laboratories, shared learning environments and spaces designed to turn discovery into real-world impact.
